Is this rude?

Mykeetah, on March 15, 2022 at 9:05 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 27
My wedding was yesterday. I was completely clear with the wedding party that I didn't want them drinking until after the I Do's (1 or 2 mimosas) fine but, nothing crazy until the reception. Everyone followed the instructions except... Well, my matron of honor who has been a hand full from the word go apparently disregarded that message. She was walking around with a full cup of tequila wandering off during the rehearsal (which had to be postponed due to weather and flight cancelations), and only could be done day of wedding. The officiant, coordinator and photographer were extremely irritated by her behavior. The maid of honor ended up having to take over 90% of her duties. Anyway fast forward to the reception, after her "toast" she walks into the dressing room and comes out in a pajama onsie and has taken her hair down! Every other bridesmaid and groomsmen is still in full attire but her! (Mind you I purchased cute slippers for the ladies for the reception to be comfortable) She took 25 selfish, posted them on her fb page and said "and yes I did take off my dress and wig" pictures of the bride and groom I will post soon 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. My question was this rude or tacky of her?

Yeah it sounds like she was an awful guest and it’s even more rude that she was part of your party. I’m sure her behavior didn’t ruin your whole day, but I would being it up to her. It’s so rude to be obnoxious on someone else’s wedding. I would expect that kind of behavior from a groomsman

It is horribly rude of her to do such a thing! It was extremely selfish as well… some people just don’t understand the fact is that it isn’t their day and it’s yours.

Congratulations on your marriage! It’s unfortunate, but you cannot control what other people do. It’s done now. What can you remember about that day that will make you feel more joy?

Very rude and extremely tacky! Not even to the point that it's at all amusing, either. You were very clear that you didn't want any extensive drinking before the ceremony. She blatantly disregarded that. Next, I get wanting to be a bit more comfortable at the reception, but unless they were the most uncomfortable bridesmaid dresses ever, you don't change into your freaking pajamas at a wedding! Why couldn't she have brought a sundress to change into after all the pictures were done? I'm guessing she never consulted you ahead of time asking if it'd be okay if she changed. I'm sorry she did that to you, and I hope it didn't cast too dark a shadow over your day.

No she definitely didn't consult me on many of things... everyone else stay in there dresses and changed into the comfy slippers I got them, everyone else waited to drink. The dresses were definitely not uncomfortable especially hers since we had to change hers last minute because she didn't try it on before. The day was beautiful regardless and it only cast a dark shadow on her. People were looking at her crazy and asking if she was okay and more...
Besides her shenanigans the day was epic.

Then that's all that matters. If everything else went off without a hitch, and you can still look back on the day and smile, then do your best to put what your MOH did out of your mind, and live with what made you happy. Smiley smile

I have definitely heard the word jealous many times. I know she doesn't want him, she's not a huge fan of his not sure why. He is loved by everyone else even my family. She's my cousin we have been besties since I was born but these last two years she has been hella weird with him and it has put a strain on us, I don't know if it has to do with her divorce or what

Yes, that is very rude and disrespectful. Someone wanted the attention.
I wouldn’t mind seeing some of those pics when you receive your photos back. 😁

That wa very inconsiderate of her & I'd be upset. My advice would be to talk with her and explain why you were upset, then give her a chance to explain her actions.
I'm sorry that happened to you on your big day!
