For the brownies and cookies, are you using the banquet sized boxes or the normal ones? If you are using the banquet box size, you should have plenty. However, as far as the soda, you will definitely need more. You can probably figure like 6 glasses per 2 liter.*love the "thing" of apples and oranges Smiley smile

Personally i dont think the main dish is going to be enough, the Deli meat.. i get 2 lbs of meat when i just have a family gathering and thats about 10 people. and i think you should get a pack of waterbottles. maybe even 2 packs... just in case. ya always want to be over prepared. just in case some one doesnt drink pop or doesnt feel like drinking pop.

I think that you should get more bread and cold cuts. I don't think two loaves would be enough. Also, a couple more bottles of soda. Happy Planning!

I think you should get more drinks, and agree that water would be a good idea.

6 bottles of soda's not enough. We use that much during a work party and there's less than 20 of us! And like other posters said, you'll need more meat... Also, you may want to just buy more chips and snack-type things so that people can nibble (if your timeline allows). Plus, if bags of chips are unopened they can be returned to the store (keep your receipt and check with the store policy first. I used to work at a grocery store and we did this all the time!) or if the store won't take excess back, have your family take some home... its beter to be prepared than to under-feed your guests!

Definitely not enough drinks! As for the rest... there seems to be enough variety to work.

I think your estimates are a little bit low. I can go through a pound of cold cuts in a week just for myself. I think the best thing to do is buy a pound, see how many pieces are in there and then figure how many pieces it would require to make a decent sandwich. Probably 3-4 slices per sandwich. Also on the fruit I think you are a little low. I pound of cheese for cheese/cracker tray will probably not be enough either.

The best way to get estimates is to go look at the stuff you're considering purchasing - especially packaged items. On the back it will tell you serving size and the # of servings per package. Use that as your guide.

Try this website for a list serving amounts, just half it since it's listed for 100 people. Smiley smile http://www.ellenskitchen.com/bigpots/plan/sandwich100.html

Oh! I thought that you were dong a dinner. Just make sure you state on your invitations "light refreshments" will be served that way no one expects an entire meal and cleans the table because they were hungry.

Since it's at 3 don't be surprised if people are starving. Most people will probably have a light lunch or nothing and plan to eat at your reception. And don't be surprised if people eat the ziti and have a sandwhich. Plan for more, you can at least take home what's left or send left overs with family and friends. But if you don't have enough that would leave your guests hungry...And I also agree with dme-cjm that it might be a good idea to add something on the invitations that you are not doing a full meal.

You might also want to up the number of bags of chips to 2 or 3. Heck I can polish off a bag of cheese puffs to myself in one sitting and i'm just one person, not 50 :-P. Remember you can always return the unopened bags for a refund if you don't use them. Once again, better safe than sorry.

I actually cant return anything (I flying out for the wedding and reception.) So i am hoping to get it as close to possible because anything not used is going to the dumpster. I might move it till a late reception (push wedding back) and just do a dessert reception. I really cant afford to much food money.

I think you might need more of some things, like drinks, 6 large bottles of soda will definitely NOT quench their thirst, just keep in mind how much you and your friends eat in a regular meal and multiply that by 50, it's a lot more than you think. Something to think about. Also, its okay to buy extra soda, you can always return the bottles you didn't use, the market will for sure take them back and give you a refund.

"I actually cant return anything (I flying out for the wedding and reception.) " Getting on a plane to fly home as soon as the reception is over. ... Forget it its going to be a dessert reception no real food. I cant afford to buy more food than this and I had said I was buying more soda already... but whatever. They are getting desserts and thats it...

More meat, more bread, more sodas'-drinks.. and I'd add another bag of like reg chips and another bag of a few other more popular chips.. Here it'd be like 2 bags reg. 2 bags bbq and 2 bags of sour cream n onion chips..

plenty of potato salad. You'll get close to 15 lbs total.

(fh is a cook and use to do this for a living at a hotel to set up for baguets and weddings).. he was trying to figure it out as you mentioned it.....

    Hope it all works out..

Yes, when you buy too many bags of chips or too many cases of soda, the gorcery store will take it back.. Keep the receiptes of everything you buy..

I use to work at a grocery store, we (I) hated this but it happened often especially around 4th of July and summer due to the get together and possible weddings.. but we still had to deal with it..

Sorry Didn't read you mention about not being able to return anything.. do you have a simular or chain store you can go to from state to state..you can go to walmart. the walmart where you are going to will have to take it back..

like example, Martins or Giant Eagle are the chain store of a stop and shop, or a Giants. They all have to return the product (if it's acceptable and within reason of course).. They are pretty much the same store different names and locations..
