Is this dress "Too Much" for a Wedding guest?

Carol, on July 20, 2017 at 11:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 39

I am going to a wedding as a guest, I've received a few comments that this dress is "Too Much" or "Too Formal" as a guest, others have mentioned that it suits the occasion. It is a formal affair but not a black tie wedding. Please share your thoughts & opinions, thank you!

That's gorgeous! I wouldn't wear it to, say, a barn wedding or a backyard shindig or something, but if it's somewhere formal/upscale I think it's perfect!

If it's a formal wedding (nighttime, indoors, passed appetizers) I think it's fine, but if you're really concerned can you ask the couple?

That's beautiful! It looks to me like something you would wear at a very formal wedding though.

Yeah, as long as it "matches" the venue, this dress is perfect! You look smokin by the way.

That dress is show-stopping in the best way. Like others said, if it's a nighttime event and not a super laid back venue like a barn or a backyard, go for it.

Have you researched the venue? If the invite didn't mention black tie, did it least indicate any level of formality? I think you look great, and I would always rather be over dressed than under, but if everyone else is wearing jeans or casual wear you might be a bit uncomfortable.

You look great. Just Google the venue to see if it very formal.

You look amazing! Don't let people bring you down. What's the venue like? Wear it. A simpler cocktail dress does not compare.

It's a gorgeous dress and looks fantastic on you. It works for anything in formality black-tie optional and above.

Beautiful! But I do think it says at least "black tie optional." You could get away with it at a nighttime indoors passed apps plated dinner type thing, but just be comfortable possibly being overly formal compared to other guests. If you are close to the bride, just ask her. She will know if it is more formal than her own dress.

Since it's not black tie, I think it's a bit much. But you do look good in it.

Gorg! But too formal imo for a normal wedding. Black tie def or very formal upscale wedding perhaps but for a normal venue wedding I think you'll be overdressed
