Is there such thing as planning too fast!?

Wilke Party, on September 26, 2017 at 2:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

My FH and I have been together for 2.5 years before he popped the question last month. I knew from the beginning I was marrying him so (like any woman and little girl) already had my wedding planned on pinterest and in my head. I have everything booked from venue/ceremony, day of coordinator, food vendor, beverage vendor/ bartender, walk down and first dance picked, hotel and shuttle booked, hair and makeup, dress picked and my girls just picked up their dresses. Everything seems to be running so smooth (knock on wood) I just keep running with it, and it seems to just be falling into my lap. Is this frowned upon or a bad thing!? Our wedding is next June. Obviously more will come up last minute but people keep commenting "wow you cheated the system" "enjoy your engagement, don't rush planning" "why are you in such a hurry to get everything done??" If I was procrastinating, I'd get grief, if I wasn't, I'd get grief. CANT WIN!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with that. Less to worry about later.

FH and I were engaged on a Monday, by Wednesday, our venue and honey moon was booked... we new we wanted a DW with only parents so it took us all of two days basically to decide where we were going... by that Friday, we had planned to have big party at my parents house when we returned home and new exactly what we wanted on our menu!

your normal dear! keep planning! good luck!

I booked my venue a week after getting engaged. I bought my dress ten days after we got engaged. I asked my maids 2 weeks into being engaged. Honestly I'd rather front load my work than not.

@Rachel, same. Not until a week or so after we were engaged did I start imagining what our wedding would be like.

I did the same thing! My fiance was supposed to propose (he told me) a few months before he did. He went to ask my dad and my dad said not until she graduates from college. Which was a semester later than I had hoped.

So I had went deep into wedding planning and as soon as he popped the question.. literally 2 days after graduation I had a venue booked, catering picked out, photographer and what color the girls were going to wear.

Rachel and CD: Same here lol. I was so excited to get married, and then about a week after we were engaged I was like "fuck... I have to have a wedding..."

Congratulations! But I don't think you're rushing, your wedding is 9 months away so you should already have things like your venue and photog picked. I had everything done about 8 months ahead and it's nice to just be able and relax and not worry about finding vendors now.

Nothing wrong with getting the big stuff done early! Plenty of littler things will come up and it also gives you time to work on any DIY projects!

Totally okay to be planning how you are, everyone plans differently and its better to get things done and at this year prices then at next years! You will enjoy your time no matter what, when its the 2 of you planning together, going to dinner, hanging out, people commenting on your engagement ring. Just because you've planned so much doesn't mean your rushing, you're preparing. No one yells at a mom for setting up the nursery to soon. I mean jeez, relax people.

You sound like me. I may be biased, but definitely not a bad thing. Not that I don't have *anything* to do, but just under 2 weeks out I don't really have a lot left to do. I really don't mind not having to run around like a madwoman.

Just ignore any comments. When we got engaged everyone would tell me how it takes 2 years to plan a wedding, so I'd better get started. Then when I got started the same people were all, "OMG, you did that already?!" Can't win either way, so do what works for you.

It didn't take us all that long to book things either.

I'm getting married on the same date. And we pretty much have all of that figured out. Just have to purchase flights and hotels. I'm kind of relieved for the planning to be slowing down because I sure am tired of putting down deposits. I'd much rather be ahead then scrambling toward the end.

I'm getting married on June 2nd and I've got pretty much everything situated. DW location, wedding dress is in and I've already tried it on, Save the Dates sent, Officiant, DJ and Photographer, BM's have their dresses, BM gifts bought. Last things I have to do are Hair and Makeup (I'm struggling with this since I live in PA and getting married in Florida), centerpieces and favors. I know what I want, just not sure how many until I know how many are coming.
