Is my venue being truthful?

Katelyn, on July 4, 2020 at 7:55 PM Posted in Kentucky Planning 0 5
My venue sent me an email saying that state was allowing 150 people due to the coronavirus. However my friend who lives in that area, sent me a notice from the government stating wedding venues was just increased to 50 total. I asked my venue about this; and my contact said this mandate is for family barbecues and restaurants. I’m pretty concerned as the wording seems pretty straightforward and includes wedding. Also the Venue is not reopening for weddings period until August 1st (My wedding date). Any KY brides know what the actual rules are currently?

I live in N.C. pretty much same thing but there are stipulations to that count. It goes by the size of the venue. Mine will allow only 109 guests due to size I have a small wedding 71 invited.

This is the most up to date info I was able to find via Google:

It sounds like you're limited to 50 people for any type of party/gathering regardless of location. I would be very wary of the venue telling you it doesn't apply to them.

If you go through the executive order and read it thoroughly you will see the stipulations. I thought the same thing then I read through the executive order. It’s long and the verbiage is all over the place lol

There’s so much information to keep up with when it comes to these phased reopenings and continued restrictions! I’d spend some time on Kentucky government pages to make sure you’re up to date!

It sounds like there may be some different distinctions between restaurants and bars (defined as places that cook and serve food and serve alcohol directly to clients), and wedding venues / gatherings. It looks like restaurants and bars are limited by a percentage of total capacity instead of a limit at 50 people - but I’d triple check everything to make sure!

It's definitely confusing trying to keep up! Here is the page with all of Governor Beshear's actions relating to COVID: https://governor.ky.gov/covid19. The 6/22/20 update looks to me like it is including wedding venues and gatherings of 50 or less people together, and I can't find anything that states that wedding venues are allowed more. I would definitely ask the wedding venue to provide an official source that says larger groups are allowed for weddings.
