Not weird at all. My sisters ring had a pearl as the center stone and diamonds around it. A friend of mine has a blue sapphire center stone.

Pearls are great! Just know that they are more delicate than diamonds, and you will need to take it off if you use harsh cleaners, are doing heavy yard work, or go swimming in a pool. They can get stripped of their natural oils and certain products can hurt em....but if you learn how to treat them well, they last forever!

You get whatever ring that you like ... just explain it to your boyfriend so he gets you the ring you want ... but honestly sweetheart right now don't worry about your wedding ... I dated my now Fiance for 5 years not including the 1.5 years we dated in high school before I got my ring ... and honestly the more I day dreamed about my ring, our proposal, our wedding, the more a of a B^**h I became ... and when my friends and family members were getting engaged, I'd be in a funk for days because I just wanted my ring and my proposal ... Looking back now, I wish I hadn't fretted since 2007/2008 about my wedding ...

I don't have a diamond. My FH bought me a garnet oval ring he hand picked out because he knew I didn't care for diamonds either. So if you are weird then so am I.

Pearls are great! I want to share this excerpt from one of my favorite series: Anne of Green Gables. Anne chose to wear pearls and I have always loved this quote:

It's your ring and it should represent you and whatever your personal style is....don't get caught up in "norms" and what other people think! As long as your happy with it, thats all that matters!!!!!!

Your ring should reflect you. You are the only person that needs to love it. I have a black diamond, a friend of mine has a blue diamond and another friend an aquamarine ... we all love our rings and so should you!

Heck no that's not weird! YOU pick whatever YOU want. You have to wear it the rest of your life, therefore it should be somethign that you love, not anyone else. My FH isn't totally in love with my ring, he wanted something a lot bigger, but I LOVE it. I like small and simple and he is the exact opposite, so I had to pick it. I love him and he has great taste, but I have to wear it forever.

Not my FH, but one of the boyfriends I had before, told me that when he proposed to the woman he wanted to marry he was going to propose with a ring that had a pearl as the main stone because she's his "pearl of great price" in life.

My engagement ring is a sapphire heart.. I am not a diamond girl at all.... so go with what you like!!
