Is it weird to have a maid of honor and a matron of honor?

Arianna, on February 10, 2021 at 10:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26
Hey ladies!! So I’m wondering if anyone has had a matron of honor and a maid of honor? My little sister is my maid of honor but I wanted my best friend to also be a maid of honor, then I heard about matron of honor and thought maybe I can make her that? She is married so it works out but I was wondering if anyone has had 2 mohs before and how it all worked out! Thanks in advance!!

There's nothing wrong with having both a maid and matron of honor. However, how many people are you having total in the bridal party? It becomes awkward when you have 3 people on your side and 2/3 are a maid/matron of honor.

I don't think it's weird at all! I have both a Maid of Honor which is my cousin and she's married and I have a Matron of Honor which is my sister and she's married also. I did it this way because I'm closest to my sister,so she'll stand right next to me and help me with my train and holding my bouquet and such..
Plan according to you're hearts desires and create you're unique wedding. 💐🙏
    Happy planning!

Most only pick one because they feel it takes away from the "honor" title to have more than one.

That makes perfect sense and I also don’t want anyone else to be jealous or mad about it

No one will be upset if you only pick one person. Unless they have jealousy issues to begin with, and that's not on you.

Very true. But if I have 2 that’s when I get a little worried but the all know I have my little sister as moh but she’s still young and doesn’t really know how to plan a bachelorette party or anything where as my best friend had already planned it before we had to postpone and now o feel like she’s done so much I should give her a title.

My sister did this, I was maid of honor and our oldest sister was matron of honor. Not weird or awkward at all. I’m doing the same thing but both of my sisters are married, so I’m doing co-matrons of honor lol, because traditionally maids are unmarried and matrons are married. I’m only having one other bridesmaid, my cousin, but honestly it doesn’t feel weird to have two co-matrons and one bridesmaid (or if anyone else thinks it’s weird, no one has said anything lol!). My cousin may or may not even make it, depending on how much COVID improves by our wedding in September, so I very well may end up with two matrons of honor and no bridesmaids present.

I feel like that's really normal! It may help the Maid of Honor with planning to have someone else with that title!

I've seen this done often. Whatever title they have, the important thing is to choose people you love.
