Is it Tacky to Use Fake Flowers?

I'm not very fond of the idea of spending a bunch of money on real flowers that are just going to die in a couple of days. That being said, we are going to do real flowers for the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages, but would it be tacky to use fake flowers for the arch/ceremony decor and...

That being said, we are going to do real flowers for the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages, but would it be tacky to use fake flowers for the arch/ceremony decor and centerpieces? For centerpieces, we are thinking of doing something simple like in the picture.

It's not tacky. I was going to have fake flowers until my fh told me he would really like us to have real flowers.

I think it's tacky if you're careless with the centerpieces, be it fake flowers, real flowers or no flowers at all.

Personally, I don't care if they're real or fake. I think do whatever centerpieces you're able to do well, or not at all, and you'll be fine.

Nah, I don't think it's tacky. Although I was sold on real flowers, I changed my mind after one meeting with the florist and seeing the price tag. Honestly, I don't really care if the flowers are real or fake as long as they look decent. So I ordered my own flowers for centerpieces as well as flowers for the BP off the bridal bouquet and love them. Made my own.

Silk flowers are not tacky. Sometimes, for higher quality, you might end up spending just as much as real flowers. If you don't mind the time investment it could be great!

My sister used silk flowers for her wedding, and now they are tastefully used to decorate her kitchen.

I'm planning on doing the opposite. I really don't care for flowers. So bouquet, boutonnieres & corsages will be silk flowers and centerpieces will be real flowers. I'm waiting to hear back from a few vendors for the centerpieces but if all else fails I'll place a bulk order from Costco Smiley smile

I personally hate them. Unless they are expensive, they look fake

    Baby's breath stinks. Literally

Hobby Lobby is completely against women's health rights.

Music is stilled, food is eaten; it's all part of the celebration. Flowers can be donated.

I am doing a similar centerpiece but it was cheaper for me to do real flowers than good fake ones. But if you can find good fake ones that aren't expensive, do it.

My center pieces aren't having flowers and I am not using real ones in bouquet for a couple reasons. 1 I am allergic to pollen and 2 it is an outside wedding (there is a bad weather back up plan at venue) and the last thing I want is to attract bees as I am also allergic to their sting. Fake flowers are fine and not tacky in my opinion. It is your day and this won't effect your guests and being a proper host really so do what you want with it.

I think fake flowers are tacky. Flowers aren't a requirement for centerpieces. How about candles instead? They can cost less than flowers. I agree with Celia that baby's breath can stink but I'd pick it over fake.

I don't know if they're tacky but I'm having fake flowers for the centerpieces. We want to give the centerpieces away to family and friends.

I wouldn't. But as long as you get good quality ones I wouldn't say it is tacky

I wouldn't say tacky. There are some very nice fake flowers out there that you wouldn't know they were fake until you felt them.

There are also flower alternatives for your decorations. Depends on your style. Best of luck.

I don't think they are tacky at all. We're using dried and fake flowers for our decor.

I asked my mom the same exact question and of course she was like yes you have to!! But I also don't see the point. That picture looks like an awesome centerpiece! Probably wouldn't even know they were fake until you lean in and try to smell them! haha

Most fake floral arrangements look terrible unless you spend as much on them as real flowers. Flowers made out of pages from books or from other materials so they obviously look like they're not silk flowers are the only kind of fake flowers that ever look pretty at weddings. Honestly, are you going to use all these fake flowers again or are they going to be thrown out the same way real flowers would have been thrown out after they died?
