Is it really so bad that my wedding isn't fancy?

I know I've been posting a lot of questions lately, but it seems like wedding drama has been ratcheting up lately. FS and I had lunch with one of the bridesmaids yesterday. FS and I had lunch with one of the bridesmaids yesterday. Let's call her FancyFoofyPants (FFP). FFP is a wonderful, supportive, loyal friend whose brain-mouth filter is highly porous. As in, she has no tact.

FS and I are on a tight budget because we're paying for it ourselves, we're saving for a home, and we want to start a family ASAP. FFP comes from a very well-off family, and when it's her turn I'm sure Daddy will pick up the check.

Any time we discuss wedding stuff with FFP, she goes on about how we should want a "nicer" wedding, and keeps suggesting expensive stuff like a pro florist, DJ, etc. I've told the budget doesn't accommodate that, but since she's never had to worry about money, it just doesn't register. But I wind up feeling like a tacky cheapskate.

I'm debating dropping her as a bridesmaid. But I know she'll be really upset. What to do?

Jennifer, that would be HILARIOUS. Sadly, I do think she'd pick floofy dresses - really expensive floofy dresses. (I'm just letting the girls wear whatever they want, as long as it's black.)

One of my girls has a face and a comment for everything and walks around like her you know what doesnt think, finally i have told myself, screw it, it is my day and my dream to have what i want !!! what works for some may not work for others but if you and fs are happy with your plans then leave it how you have it !!! you and fs are the only people that matter that day !!! good luck !!!

Shannon, this you’re wedding. Please listen to Brian, and don't let her ruin your special day.

I agree with Brian, too. I like his advice, to tell your BM how her comments make you feel. More than likely, she doesn't realize that.

Your wedding is just that, yours. You and your FH get to do it the way that you want to, not the way someone else envisions a wedding. She will get her chance when she gets married.

I think you should find a "nicer" BM.

Honey, it's n ot what you do, it's how you do it. Not expensive doesn't mean it looks cheap, it can look and be classy for not so "expensive" prices. You are looking forward to a prosperous future!
