Is it okay to a stay at Airbnb as a wedding guest

I don’t see why not. I’m having a “destination” wedding and a bunch of our immediate family is looking for some to stay in

There's nothing wrong with it! As long as you can get to the wedding on time, do whatever works for your budget.

The couple should not care where you stay. That is your decision based on your preferences and budget. Be aware that Airbnb has the right to cancel unexpectedly for no reason and you may or may not get a refund. If cost is a concern, look into lower price motels: Super 8, Motel 6, Best Western, etc.

A hotel block is a convenience for guests that the couple reserves as a courtesy. There's no obligation to stay there. Do what you need to do!

You're under no obligation to stay at one of the recommended hotels.

This. As a side note - I have no idea where any of my guests stayed. The couple will be happy that you put in the time and effort to celebrate with them.

It doesn't really affect the bride or groom as to wear you stay unless they're organizing shuttles or welcome bags or something. With that being said, you don't need to be responsible for informing them, because the hotels should be in charge of that.

I typically stay at Airbnbs for weddings if we know other people going! And at least 3 couples coming to our wedding are staying in Airbnbs with another at a different hotel entirely!

Hi ! When I have couples recommending us some places to stay, it's mostly to be helpful and also to let know that they're not paying any acommodation for guests ;-) So I would normally take it as an information that I can, but not have to use !
