is it okay for the Groom to wear a different color suit from the GM?

Depends on what the BMs are wearing. Usually the groom is distinct from the GM, usually by a vest color and boutinere. But not sure about whole different suit color.

As long as the colors are coordinating, I don't think it should be a problem. Technically, you could have people wearing tuxes and coctail gowns and you two could wear shorts and t-shirts if you wanted. Would it look silly? Heck yeah. And pics would probably get posted on facebook and wedding wire, but it's your wedding. You can do anything you want.

Its personal preference. I personally wouldn't want to do that myself, but then again, I've never seen it done in real life. If he's set on it, though, and you're okay with it, then go for it.

FS cousin wore ivory or white cant remember and his Gm wore black it looked great, I believe FS is doing something along the same lines

I've seen it done before. I think it works if the Groom matches the Bride and the BM & GMs all have on the same suit and vest.

FS is wearing a different tux than his BM & GMs and I think it will look fine. He wants to stand out on his day, too!

@Michelle S... that's what I was saying...I would much rather him be distinguished by a boutonniere.... and vest color... but he insists that he wants to wear ivory... he said navy blue is an everyday color and he doesn't want to look everyday (I agree with his rationale)..I think I would just settle for the guys wearing the same color as him...

I want blue in my wedding because it goes well with pink (my BMs are wearing pink...and see my inspiration below for the blue and pink)...I guess I have to look for another way..

I typed too slow...lol....he said "babe leave the GM fashion up to me" ...lol..but I have to make sure it works with the entire wedding... this is the man who saw blk and told me it's grey..lol

I have seen this done. At my sister's wedding, her hubby wore a white jacket while all GM wore black coats. If the groom wants to stand out, maybe you should let him. But I wouldn't only let him wear ivory if you are wearing ivory. I wouldn't want FS wearing ivory and me wear bright white

@Lynsie... I am wearing ivory.... that's why he chose ivory as opposed to white (his original color was white...)

I've seen numerous weddings where the Groom wore a different color suit/tux than the GM. The only thing is the Groom matched the Bride. I personally like the look. Makes the couple stand out and it looks AWESOME in the pics they take together.

DS wore a light brown suit and a red tie that coordinated with my dress, and the GMs wore black suits and black/bronze/champagne ties that coordinated with the BM dresses. See photo. I think it looked really nice.
