Is it ok to ask you for how many ct’s is your engagement ring? And for the price and brand?

Sorry I’m not trying to be rude. I’m just curious to now about other girls rings. Also how much was it? The ring I want is almost 5000 dollars for 1 ct. Brand: Henry daussi and I don’t know if that’s a bit expensive for just 1 ct

The price depends A LOT on the quality of the stone and material used on the band. My center stone is a little over 1 ct (the halo is an additional like 1/10 ct) and it was $6,000.

Like everyone said, depends on quality of stone, setting material, brand name, etc. Mine is 1.01 ct center excellent cut, E color, slightly included, and side baguettes totaling .38tcw all custom made by family used jeweler, I believe it was around $5500 total...?

Not the best pic. It is 2.4 carats. Keep in mind, carat size looks different on every finger. I have a lagr ring finger size. Also, keep in mind every single diamond is graded by color, cut and clarity. You can get a yellow 1 carat for $3k with lots of flaws in it, or you can get a PERCECT 1 carat that could be triple that. It really all depends. He spent around $14,000 on mine( we had a few appraisals on it for my ring insurance and I guess it is worth $28,500). We had a connection in the diamond industry and they gave us a discount. I recommend staying away from places like Jared’s, Zales, etc it you want to get the best deal for your ring.

I personally wouldn’t ask other people for it as it might come across rude. I didn’t even ask much to my husband at first but he was excited to share his journey for ring shopping and so he gave me a lot of details. He then gave me all the documents for the ring to insured and I saw all the information about ct, clarity, color, cut, and price. A good friend of mine and I discussed price and ct because she brought it up. I didn’t find it offensive or rude but I wouldn’t feel comfortable asking others.

My ring is a 1ct solitaire, the clearity isn't the best, and it has a white gold band. I think originally was a $3,000 ring but he got it under $800 ( he had a family member do a employee discount plus black Friday sale). Personally I wouldn't want him to spend $3,000 to 5,000 on a ring no matter the size and quality/clearity of the diamond but I'm sure your dream ring is beautiful.

My engagement ring with wedding band! My FH’s uncle is a jeweler and so I had showed brad a ring I liked and his uncle helped pick the best center stone as far as the C’s. I don’t know the size or price. I told him I never want to know the price either.

I was told the total is 2 carats, but my ring is morganite with tiny diamonds surrounding it. But I know my FH and I know he paid less than 1K, but my ring was also on clearance, and he managed in a discount. (He's very proud of his thrifty shopping LOL. But regardless, I love my ring!)

I don’t think the price should matter at all. neither should the official ct in my opinion but to each his own! 🤷🏻‍♀️

im not a diamond girl myself so i have a hexagon mystic topaz ring on a white gold setting.

This ring is beautiful! It's not in our budget to have spent 5000 on a ring. But if y'all can and be comfortable I say go for it

5000 sounds pretty reasonable for 1ct! Mine is 0.72ct and it was $3300. But I know once you hit the “1ct” mark the price jumps more. Like a 0.9ct diamond would be much cheaper than a 1ct. Even like a 0.97ct diamond would probably be several hundred cheaper. That’s just how diamond pricing works lol and the jeweler I talked to said it was the best value to buy a stone that’s juuuuust under a significant mark. Like for example, my 0.72 stone is significantly cheaper than a stone that’s 0.03 ct bigger. Because that one would be “three-quarter ct” and they can charge more for that label. But..... the different of 0.03 of a ct is not noticeable.

Long story short..... if you’re worried $5k is too expensive then I’d look for a stone that’s juuust under 1ct and see if the price drops because I bet it would, and I bet it would be identical to the naked eye :p But if you’re just asking “is $5k reasonable for a 1ct diamond” I think yes it is! Assuming the stone is high quality too!

To be honest I always had an idea what I wanted but when it came to it I didn’t care what I got, I just knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with my husband. My ring was on sale for $1200 and is more than a carat in total because of the halo and band.

I worked for a small family owned jewelry store in the San Francisco Bay Area. I processed all of the inventory, so I was able to touch and see everything before hitting the sales floor. I don't have any of the certificates, but I definitely know people who do! It's not what you know, it's who you know!

Yes, for sure don't miss the retail hours!

A flawless 1.5 ct oval diamond on a thin pave setting was anywhere from 10-12k and I wasn’t comfortable with FH spending that much so we opted for a moissanite stone and I have no regrets! Total cost of my ring was about 1800.00

My center stone is an heirloom round diamond. My FH’s great aunt willed it to him. The center is 3 carats and we designed the rest of the ring and added the bloom style halo and pave diamonds on the band at a local jeweler. I think it came out to be 4.2 carats total. I don’t know what he ended up spending out of pocket, but we were really lucky that the center diamond is from family. Since it is a custom design we also got the wedding band at the same time and that was about $1,200 and includes matching pave diamonds.

Definitely take the time to visit a jeweler before making any decisions - they’ll explain the benefits of cut, color, clarity, and carat. As long as you love it, that’s all that matters! Also, choose a jeweler that will give you benefits for other things too - you may save money in the long run. I get free cleanings forever, yearly discounts on other jewelry, and incredible service. They sent me a huge floral arrangement for our engagement! Our jeweler also partners with a local bridal boutique and I saved 20% on my wedding dress.

5k sounds about right for a full carat diamond. I got a blush moissanite for my ering because I wanted a sparkly pink stone and good golly are pink diamonds expensive. I couldn’t even look at .25 size, it was still thousands!
My wedding ring is an opal and they don’t go by carats but it’s a good size for my hand. Someday I would like an old Alexandrite, that would be my dream ring but Russian mines depleted a long time ago, a good stone from Russia would run me 10k at least.
Why must pretty things be so expensive 😭

That's not unreasonable for a 1ct ring. Gorgeous ring, btw! The price depends on the 4 c's, cut, color, clarity and carat. If it's a perfect 1ct it will be a bit more expensive. If it's slightly smaller or slightly larger, 0.94 or 1.02, it will be a little cheaper. I have a perfect 1ct that was a bit more than what you're looking at! My husband bought the loose diamond while we were on vacation in the Bahamas and then had it set with a jeweler local to us. You can find any size, any cut for any price really! It all just boils down to what your future spouse can/will spend and what you might want. You should discuss what you're comfortable with and what can be afforded.
