Is it ok to ask you for how many ct’s is your engagement ring? And for the price and brand?

Sorry I’m not trying to be rude. I’m just curious to now about other girls rings. Also how much was it? The ring I want is almost 5000 dollars for 1 ct. Brand: Henry daussi and I don’t know if that’s a bit expensive for just 1 ct

Your ring is so beautiful! I completely agree that it's not the price that matters!

It's hard to compare diamonds by pice. Pricing on diamonds is not a simple across the board flat pricing scale. Price is determined by Carat, Cut, Clarity & Color. Personally I picked Color over Clarity, which then in turn picked the Carat size. I always knew I wanted an Oval Cut.

I love my ring, but then I've always known what I wanted I worked in a jewelry store for 10 years!

I wouldn’t worry at all about the resale value of your ring. It’s not something you’ll (hopefully) ever have to sell. To each her own but I would rather wear 10k on my finger every day then wear it one day in a wedding dress. Just thought it was odd you’d hesitate to spend 5k on a ring and be concerned about depreciation when I just read your dress post. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But again to each her own

My fiancé didn’t want to buy the band and the diamond at the same time. He did a lot of research on diamonds and found a bigger, clearer, nearly flawless diamond at a better price then the one the store we bought my band from wanted to put into my ring. I’ve got a 1.75c center stone with diamond and sapphires in the band. It’s valued a little over 11k
5k is a lot of money so good luck with your decision. Also I would never ever buy a diamond without seeing it in person.

My fiance and I paid for the ring. If my stepdad hadn't surprised me, it wouldn't have happened. I also mentioned feeling guilty about it.

But to get back to this particular discussion, If they can afford it, go for it. I agree that one should see it in person.

Well your dress is absolutely gorgeous, and very unique. No reason to feel guilty about it 💗

and I forgot to say my diamond is from a jeweler in the diamond district in Chicago. I initially wanted a tacori ring, but even then I would not have bought their diamonds (not worth the price) You and or your fiancé should really research diamonds, get the designer band if you love it and find a better diamond. Knowledge and research will help you make a really great diamond purchase. Good luck!

If you're on a budget, you could find an independent jeweler to custom design that same ring for you. All you need is a photo. You could use moissanite as the center stone. I LOVE the hearts and arrows moissanite I will be getting from Charles and Colvard. The whole ring will cost 3k, and that's with diamond pave, white gold, 1.5 carat equivalent moissanite, and 2 top line ruby peekaboos. The ruby is the pricy stone, and a one carat would be cheaper as well. I agree the center stone looks a lot bigger than a carat.

We did the same thing! We purchased my band at Shane Co, but H did a ton of research and looked at over 40 diamonds before settling on the perfect one. He ended up finding my diamond at Blue Nile (online, GIA certified, ethically sourced) and had it set in the setting we got from Shane Co. I know he was able to get a better quality diamond at a better price than he found in store, but I have no clue what ti cost. My center stone is a 1.82 cushion cut diamond. My setting is a simple pave set band in white gold, I think it is 1/5 ct? Not sure. I love my ring and I love that he put so much time/effort into finding the right stone that was better quality than anything he found in store, for a better price than anything he found in store!

Yes! It meant more to me than anything to hear him talking diamonds with the regular jeweler where we got the band, thats when I realized he spent hours upon hours researching and the diamond he choose just blows my mind. I think getting the setting you love and then letting him do all the diamond work is the way to go. I still get what I want and he’s incredibly included because he picks the actual diamond. Nothing more special than a man taking all that time to pick something you’ll love 💗💗 and your ring is gorgeous!!

Thanks so much! And I totally agree. I loved picking out the perfect setting for me and letting H take the reins on picking out the perfect diamond!

AHHHHHH! Yessss!!! Another jewelry person! I worked in jewelry for five years and miss it so much (the job and the people NOT the pay and hours tho). Where did you work? Did you do any of the AGS or GIA stuff?

Its chill if you don’t want to talk about it tho. I’m just happy there’s another jewelry person :-)

Below is my engagement ring (it is now retired) originally when FH bought it it was about $5200 and it is 1 3/8ct and is 14k White Gold. The diamond count is all the diamonds together though not just my center stone. My engagement ringIs it ok to ask you for how many ct’s is your engagement ring? And for the price and brand? 3

My ring is a custom ring which was set by a friend who is still on the bench (so we got discounts everywhere). My stone is a 1.98 ct stone that we got for $4600 (but we got her at cost). The mounting was a Stuller mounting that was maybe another $200ish.

Yeah I agree with this comment after looking at the picture the ring definitely has a yellower tone to the center stone. But to each their own.

The total carat weight of the ring is 1 carat. The color on the center stone is on the yellow side and the diamond you get probably won't be as pictured. Min clarity is VS2.. So you could end up with one that isn't eye clean. There's also no Gia or similar certificate for the diamond so who knows what it's actually rated.

I can't recommend bluenile or James Allen enough. You can see the diamonds at a magnefied view spin in front of you to look for any inclusions and such. Blue nile has the Gia reports to view freely. Rare carat is helpful too.

Cut, Clarity, Color, and Carat all matter. My FH got my diamond and setting off of Blue Nile and we are both really happy with the quality. They claim to offer better pricing but who knows if that's true.... What is nice, is you can look at diamonds and select different criteria (the 4 C's) and see how pricing changes when one of the 4 C's is changed. Try to do some research on what level of clarity and color you want - not all will be visible to the naked eye so you don't need the highest level for each.

My center diamond is 1.25, I think clarity was VS and color was I, but I can't be sure on either of those... My band is platinum and the setting alone was about $1,500 (about $400 more than 14K would have been. Having platinum was important to me). With the center stone it was $6,000.

When I first stared looking at what I wanted and saw prices I almost had a heart attack. I worked in the jewelry industry for about 5 years (10 years ago) and know the mark up (it’s so crazy!) so I CANNOT fathom paying retail prices. So since we are paying for our wedding and wanted to get married sooner rather then later (and we are cash flowing everything) and I wasn’t willing to sacrifice any of the C’s (cut/clarity/color/carat) I went with a moissanite centerstone. Did tons of research and I’m happy with my choice. Ring was still pricey as I wanted a 2 ct center stone. Setting is 14k rose gold with diamonds on all sides of the bank and prongs with a under halo. Total price was just under $4K before taxes. Would have been close to $20K if I went with a diamond center stone. He bought mine at Briliant Earth!

This is so unique and gorgeous! You got an amazing deal too. This is what I mean about knowing cost vs retail prices. It’s crazy the mark up!

If you want a larger carat, you can save money by getting a shape that isn’t round. My jeweler was telling me about this. Round cut is the most popular diamond cut for engagement rings so if you get a ring that is a less common shape, you can get more carats for your money.

We got a pear. It’s 1.3 ct plus the halo and was less than $6k.
