Is it ok for my step mom to wear a long Ivory dress too !!

So my step mom who I don't really get along with is wearing a long Ivory dress to my wedding. I'm not sure if I am just complaining because its 23 days before my wedding and I specifically told her to get silver or a purplish color or if I really am a little peeved about this for some other reason....

I'm not sure if I am just complaining because its 23 days before my wedding and I specifically told her to get silver or a purplish color or if I really am a little peeved about this for some other reason. My step mom told me yesterday that she bought this long shimmery Ivory gown for my wedding. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was short or if it wasn't the exact same color as my dress. we haven't had the best relationship in the past, and she has always been jealous of me and my dad's relationship. So help me out WW I need some words of encouragement cause i feel like she may have did it on purpose, and if I spaz out over it she will be winning.

You could see a pic of it, just to say you've seen it, and then let your inner, "OH HELL NO!" out. :o)

I'd let me inner, "OH HELL NO!" out as well, as I think it's rude to wear a white dress that resembles the brides in any way at a wedding. ESPECIALLY if you're in the party!

Kimberly... I will admit I didn't read all he other posts.. but you stated you and your dad have a great relationship.. could you talk to him let him know that she will be looked at like an a$$ for wearing white or ivory trying to out do the bride and that you really don't want people to think of her that way and you want to save her the embarrassment of that?? or he could tell her he really doesn't like the dress.. maybe something like her butt looks big?? LOL that would get him in trouble but see if you dad could help you and kinda go at it at a different angle.. good luck girl we don't have much more time left.. Smiley smile

Well, Kimberly, in order to not have family confusion because u know it will strike just let it go and wash your hands, and just look beautiful on your day. Just let the Lord, handle his work and sit back and don't worry, ok. Love you..........................

NO!!!! It's not okay. Especially since you asked her to do silver or purple.

People who try to upstage others drive me nuts! As the bride, it is YOUR day!

I would gently say something to her.

Wow my future brides are ready for a throw down.... lol

But seriously thats not cool, its your day and you should be allowed to shine, i mean u are only getting married one time.. I dontlike it when people are not just happy for you, they always want to get in the action.... tell her redo her wedding and then she could wear the dress!!!

I gotta say~that would ABSOLUTELY not be acceptable to me! I would tell her she can buy a new dress. return the one she has, wear one from her closet, or stay home!

Awww, is that your FS?!! Cool.

I think you both have a great, united, positive spin about the whole ugly soul of your stepmom.

    Everyone will see it.

You will look stunning and gorgeous and you are the bride. So the attention will be on you regardless.

    Peace.

@JJ, yes that is my hubby-to-be

To all the ladies who have responded to this post.

You all were a great help. I did decide to tell my step mom how I feel, she said that she has never heard of this tradition. She said she doesn't agree with my posistion but that she will find another dress. I'm so glad I did what I felt instead of biting my tongue about my feelings. Needless to say she is still upset because she can't wear "her" dress but I think she will set her opiniions aside for the time being....i will keep you posted.
