Is it inappropriate to play winter (christmas) songs for my January wedding?

Indianna, on October 18, 2018 at 9:06 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
Hi! I’m putting together my January wedding and I am a Christmas FREAK 😂 Christmas music makes me SO happy and I would love to have it as a part of my wedding. However, do you think my guests will hate it?
DISCLAIMER: I’m not going to play “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” or anything. I’m thinking more along the lines of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” or “Let It Snow”.
Let me know what you think!
Thank you Smiley smile

How far into January? If it is the first week of January then I think it is fine since some cultures still celebrate the Christmas holidays through the end of that first week. I love Christmas too and had a Christmas wedding. I loved having my band play Christmas music interspersed with the other music played. In fact, our last dance/song of the night was "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" since the next day was Christmas Eve. It was a perfect way to end a perfect day/night!

It’s set for January 4th, so yes the first week! Your wedding sounds amazing! Could I ask you, did you run into any issues while planning/having a winter wedding?

Then I think it would be fun to have some Christmas music added - especially the songs you mentioned. One of my favorites is Let It Snow!

I got married in Sonoma, CA so I didn't have any problems having a winter wedding as it relates to temperatures. I had some amazing discounts since it was considered off-peak season. Is there anything in particular you're concerned about?

Why would it be inappropriate?! It isn't like it's August! And even then Why Not?! It's YOUR wedding- do what makes you Happy!
And I think it is a fun touch that shows You.... dinner music can & usually is slower and or classical. Maybe think about using instrumental Christmas music for dinner.. said as a former DJ.

I think in the first week of January you are fine. These are more winter songs than Christmas anyway.

Date twins!!!!! I love Christmas also! I wanted to have my wedding around Christmas! But if I were you I’d totally do the “winter related” music without the Christmas word in it like you said! Haha that’s a good idea though!

I think winter songs and Christmas songs are different. The ones you named would make sense. I think you'll be fine.

Yes! I’m definitely concerned about it being around the holidays! Live in South Carolina but I have lived in New Jersey where I was in a sorority so I want my sisters at/a part of my wedding!

I would find it a bit odd - but since its still so close to Christmas its fine. Its your wedding, do what you want!

If your wedding is the first week, then I think it's totally appropriate to play winter/Christmas songs!! Smiley smile My family always said that we could sing Christmas songs until January 6, which makes sense.

Besides, it's your wedding!! Even if you were having a Christmas/winter wedding in July, I'd still be cool with you playing these types of songs because it's your wedding!

Are you incorporating winter or Christmas anywhere else into your wedding?

It’s very much winter themed! We’re doing an outdoor ceremony with blankets as favors for everyone. Snowflakes will be thrown with the flowers, things like that. I’m very excited! I really want to play “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” right before I walk down the isle. 😂
