Is it customary or the norm to list the vendors in your ceremony program?

Former MDLS now Mrs. K, on October 14, 2010 at 6:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I'd like to save one sheet of paper (that's me being cheap) but do we normally list the vendors/give them credit on the programs? Thanks Smiley smile

I wouldn't... If someone is really impressed, they'll ask. I think it's a nice touch, but none of your guests really care.

Never been to a wedding where vendors were listed in the program.. it is YOUR big day, not ours. Smiley smile

It depends on the bride and how she wants her program layout. To be honest, I have seen it done both ways.

I've heard of brides doing it, but I have no idea why. It kind of comes off to me like commercial sponsorship of your wedding. I'd no more do that than put a sign on the getaway car saying, "Buy at Mr. Harvey's market!"

I saw a TV show about "sponsored" weddings. Where the vendors provide services for free and the bride and groom mention them in the program and usually have their business cards and brochures available for the guests to look at. I used to think that this was a stupid idea, but now that I'm actually seeing just how expensive weddings are, I'm starting to think that these people might be on to something...

As the other vendors have said, it's your day, not ours. I haven't seen a wedding that listed the vendors in the program.

Some programs will list vendors such as Florists, musicians maybe wedding planners and stationery. Vendors that had something to do with the actual wedding ceremony. Vendors such as Caterers, photographers, DJ's etc that had a hand in the actual planning process/reception but not visuable at the wedding may not be listed. But as stated before it depends on the bride.

You may want to mention the musicians and officiant but that's about it. I did have a bride mention me once which was super nice but it is really not necessary.

As ceremony musicians, we sometimes get listed in the program. Along the lines of:

    Canon in D........................................................................J. Pachelbel

    Devon Haupt, Harpist

The officiant usually does as well. Only once have I seen a program that included the entire vendor list. It was unwieldy at best, but at worst looked like an advertiser's index in a bridal magazine!

I'm listing the ceremony musicians, and adding a general "thank-you" to "all who helped with the wedding".

It is not customary or traditional to do this, but if you are proud of the services you have hired, you may list them in the Acknowledgments section of the programs. My sister's recent wedding was done this way. We listed the stationery coordinator, the cake baker, the caterer, decorators, and the photographer, mostly so our guests would know who these people were. All of them are close friends of our family, and we wanted them to have credit for their role in coordinating this extremely formal event.

I would only people PARTICIPATING in the ceremony. Musicians, speakers, officiants. The reception is totally separate, and I wouldn't mention the caterer, cake, photographer, or anything like that. Photogs might be present at the ceremony, but they don't participate.
