Is it cheesy to have someone sing during the Bridal Processional?

Sprinkle87, on June 30, 2013 at 11:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

We have 3 classical guitarists playing during the ceremony. I have a song I love for the Bridal Processional and it would be so easy just to have someone sing it while the guitarist play, instead of having the guitarists stop playing and the DJ que a song.

I'm already having my sister (who is a Bridesmaid) sing a solo during the lighting of the Unity Candle. Thoughts???

I think it would be fine to have someone sing it. If there's no singing before that song though, I would make sure the lyrics start a few seconds before you show up because I would think that when the person starts singing people would automatically turn to look at him/her. So give them a second before they're supposed to turn to look at you. And I'm sure you know to make sure it's someone who can actually sing well haha. I went to a wedding where someone had their friend sing while she walked down the aisle and the friend was SO bad it was really hard to enjoy the processional

I don't think it's cheesy at all and I totally agree with Sarah - make sure they're good and have the song start a little before you come down the aisle.

Thanks everyone! Glad to know that two songs arent too much. I'll have to cut out a reading or poem or something just so the ceremony isnt so long Smiley smile

I'm a cheesy girl. Our singer sang while I came down the isle. I loved it.

Not cheesy at all ! Just make sure they sing it softly and not "church loud" . I went to a wedding before and the girl was almost having church while the bride was walking.

LOL @ BoatBride2014, I was telling my mom the same thing this morning. She's a gospel singer so I'm gonna have to politely tell her to "Keep it soft and sweet" Smiley smile

We had recorded songs for other parts of our ceremony, but the song I picked for the bridal entrance (Annie's Song, John Denver) so happened to be one that my matron of honor's husband sings so he offered, and it was lovely.

Only cheesy if it's a terrible performer with a terrible songSmiley smile I like it when you can pull in talented friends and family. It's great way to incorporate them into your day and make it more personal.
