Is it a bad idea to get married the same month as your birthday?

I am thinking about canceling my church wedding and eloping in Jamaica like we had originally planned. My birthday is Aug 3rd and I will be turning 30. The wedding date that resort in Jamaica has avaliable is aug 14 2014... I'm just trying to decide if getting married the same month as my birthday...

Has anyone done this and regretted it since one or the other will get over shadowed???

I didn't read all the responses. My only thought against is that your future hubby will have to shell out quite a lot for celebrations that month going forward.

@Soon2beMrsAtkin, Im having the same dilemma. Our date is 7 days before my 30th bday. FH proposed on my 29th bday so that week AND that bday will always have special meaning to me. I was wondering if we should change the date just because everything is so close AND if we keep this wedding date, we'll be on our honeymoon for my 30th.

No nothing wrong. We are doing it. Wasn't planned but it worked out that way. My bday is 3/11. And as you can see our wedding date is 3/27. Fine with me, except my 15' bday will be very low-key lol Smiley smile

When we were looking at venues, my birthday was an available date, but it is also the same day as Easter so that was a big no no. And I don't want to share my day with anyone else, including my FH. LOL

I wanted our wedding away from the holidays so money wouldn't be tight.

    There's Valentine's Day

    Easter (my family cooks)

Mothers' Day (presents not for me yet, but for our mothers)

    Memorial Day (big cook out)

Fourth of July (fireworks and another cook out)

    His Birthday

    My Birthday

Labor Day (usually the family gets together because I'm the favorite grandchild and it's my birthday weekend)

Halloween (sometimes we have a big party with the family)

    Thanksgiving (more food)

Christmas (we're not done with food, plus presents)

Although it may not seem like a lot of money for a holiday, $40-$100 for food at a get together adds up. I didn't put my or his parents birthday or Father's day.

We are getting married on my birthday. We had decided a few years ago when we got married we would do it at the beach where we always vacation the first week of July. Also, we wanted to do it on monday (cheaper than weekend) and gives everyone the week to relax at the beach. It just worked out that we finally got officially engaged this year and next year my birthday falls on our monday at the beach!

I picked my date because of my birthday. Since I was a kid my birthday kind of sucked. I thought it would be cool to get married and have our honeymoon. It just feel nice to share such a special day. I will say that it helps fh remember the wedding day lol.

We're getting married on May 17th. His Bday is May 19th, and mine is May 23rd, so we'll be on our honeymoon for BOTH birthdays Smiley smile.

I think its fine. My grandma and step-grandpa got married on his birthday so that he would never be able to forget their anniversary. Its fine, wedding anniversary celebrations are usually never anything more than a small gift, nice dinner, maybe a weekend trip.

I'm getting married 11 days after my birthday. All along I kept saying that I didn't want to get married in October at all. Here I am though, getting married in October. I'm not too happy about it, but that's how it worked out. I made sure FH knew that I refuse to combine celebrations.

I don't think it would be a bad idea, just more to celebrate. But, if you want to have a day that simply is dedicated to that special occasion, do that. Goodluck sweetie!!!

Mine is May 14 and the wedding is May 24. I don't care, as long as it's not the actual day of.

Our wedding will be exactly one month after FH's birthday. Also... my parents got married a few days after my mom's birthday, which happens to be on Christmas Eve. She also had my sister on her birthday, so we have mom's and sister's birthdays on December 24, Christmas and then about 3 days later, my parents have their anniversary. December is nuts, but it's not really that big of a deal.

My parents were both born in April. They got married that month. It's like a whole month of celebration!
