Is it a bad idea to get married the same month as your birthday?

I am thinking about canceling my church wedding and eloping in Jamaica like we had originally planned. My birthday is Aug 3rd and I will be turning 30. The wedding date that resort in Jamaica has avaliable is aug 14 2014... I'm just trying to decide if getting married the same month as my birthday...

Has anyone done this and regretted it since one or the other will get over shadowed???

I got married on my birthday. It's occasionally a hassle trying to schedule romantic anniversary stuff with NotFroofy and family birthday stuff with my son and his family. But it's not that big a deal, especially since birthday stuff often gets moved to the nearest weekend, anyway. And if it's just the same month, not the same day, it should be even less of an issue.

Thank you ladies for all your feedback. I feel alot better about doing it in august. This will give me time to save some more money and I can just do something local for my 30th birthday. I actually have to wait for an email from the hotel to make sure they still have me down for aug 14th. I will keep you posted and thanks for the comments :-)

My wedding is a week and a a day after our wedding along with my sisters birthday thats on the same day as mine and both of my sisters have their anniversaries in august. And our daughter will turn one 3 days before our wedding. so i dont think it will be an issue. we dont do anything for my birthday and our daughters we will jus have her party earlier than the 6th.

I don't see anything wrong with it. My mom's birthday is two days before my parent's anniversary!

I don't think it really matters to be honest. I don't see one day overshadowing the other, they are totally separate occasions with different meanings.

My fiance and I specifically chose a date that was far away from our birthdays, but that was just because our birthdays are only days apart...and our families have birthdays only days apart from us...so it was more of an "overwhelming month" for us than it is for you, I would say.

I don't see why having your birthday and wedding close together would be a problem...you might just have to accept that, for that year only, your wedding will be a bigger deal than your birthday...which I think is fine anyway.

We got married 2 days after my husbands birthday, and I don't think he minds at all. As another lady said, I will still do something special for his birthday, and not just roll it into one celebration.

My wedding is in my birth month. I don't see it as a problem. It really doesn't matter.

My mom's second wedding was in Jamaica and on her birthday. They celebrate both all the same every year.

Our wedding was October 12th and my birthday is October 31st

I think it makes it easier for him to remember that he's got two important dates in October! LOL Smiley winking

We like the idea so we plan our wedding right between our two birthdays. Our birthdays are less than a week apart and we are getting married right in the middle. That way we can take vacations and celebrate both birthdays and our anniversary :-)
