David's Bridal as a whole is a great company. Some people have just been unlucky with getting a rude consultant. They are not all like that. I'm about the same size as you and there were a few dresses that were really pretty that I tried on and my consultant worked with me with a smile on her face the entire time. She was sweet and was genuine in wanting to help me find the one. I ended up not going with any of the dresses since I wanted to explore other shops before making my decision but David's Bridal was a great experience for me.

I’m sure they would have a decent amount of selection available!

There are mixed reviews about DB and everyone has their own opinion. My suggestion is to give them an honest chance and if you're unhappy with the selection you're given go to another boutique.

I got my dress there last night. And I had an amazing experience. I'm also a size 16 (which does not translate to a 16 in wedding dresses) There was a great selection, prices were not astronomical. I really enjoyed the experience. I hope you have a great one too.

I had a great experience at David's bridal. I'm round and was terrified I wouldn't be able to find anything in my size. But I was given a great selection and they stayed in my price range and got my beautiful dress for $500.

I bought my dress from Davids Bridal and I had a great time when I was there. Never did I feel uncomfortable or anything and they have manyyyy "plus size" dresses. Definitely give it a try. I was always told there were busy and overbooked on appointments, but I went on a Friday and had no problems at all!

I don’t think you can make an assumption like that about the whole company or all the consultants. I went (had three appointments over eight months, somehow got the same girl each time.). She was very helpful and never rude. Go and enjoy. And yes they have plenty of selection.

I had a nice consultant who did a great job. I love my dress. I was happy with my alterations and the preservation after my wedding.

I had a great consultant, but when it came down to ordering the dress they forced me to get one 2 sizes too big for me. The alterations was a nightmare and after complaining when I left after the 4th alterations they only refunded 1/2 the amount. I had to go to a different place to get my dress fixed less than a week before the wedding. It was terrible!

I've been to David's Bridal many times, and I am far from a small lady. It does depend on the David's Bridal and the time of the day or week - an early weekday appointment is a lot less stress than a prime weekend appointment. That being said, go to get an idea of what you like! They have gorgeous gowns for all shapes and sizes, but don't feel forced into anything. I found some consultants overwhelming - constantly pushing me into a sale when I needed time and just felt inundated with the choices and the actual trying on experience.

I'll say that I have bought way too much from these guys. I bought my first ballgown because I was so excited about being engaged, then ended up exchanging it when I didn't like it. Long story short, I ended up not liking that dress because of the back, and now I've exchanged again for a simpler ballgown. I also got my elopement dress from them.
I LOVE my elopement dress. It's simple lace with a pretty train, unique and not one I've seen a lot or really at all. I would go in with an open mind. You can get an awesome deal on a dress, but don't be attached to the idea of needing a designer dress. My elopement dress is perfect and it was a whole lot less than their flashy dresses.
Morale of the story? Go with a grain of salt. Saturday's are their busy days, even during Covid times, and a weekday appointment can get you a relaxed consultant and more time to peruse. Expect to go back a few times and look. But most of all, enjoy it and try not to get overwhelmed. It's supposed to be fun!

I personally am not a fan of David's but I've only ever been into one store, and I'm sure it varies somewhat based on location. Even within that one store some sales people were quite nice and helpful and others were pretty incompetent. Unfortunately, my MOH ordered her dress from David's and it didn't come in time for our wedding and David's communicated with us really poorly about it and the associates she and I spoke to weren't even sympathetic about it. I understand her dress was impacted by Covid, but there is no excuse for the poor customer service on top of it.

I say just go there and trust your gut and be really thorough about asking questions and sticking up for yourself. If you feel like you are not being treated well, or they mess up your measurements, or keep showing you dresses outside of your budget, say so. Don't feel pressured into buying something you don't love, or feeling like you need to make a decision right away. I have seen some beautiful dresses at David's and many brides have been really happy with their dresses purchased there. You may have a really wonderful experience! Go into it with an open mind and have fun!

I had a wonderful experience at David's! I felt very much like a bride, and the consultant I had listened to what I asked for. I tried on about 6 dresses before I found the one Smiley smile I felt so beautiful on our big day!

I did not have a good experience with David's Bridal, but my sister and one of my friends both had great experiences. I truly think it depends on the location, the consultant, and whether you go at a busy time or not. I recommend going in with ideas of what you'd like to try on, and try to schedule an appointment at a time when they are less busy. On weekends, the consultants are typically double booked, so they're each working with two brides at once. I'd recommend a weekday. Happy dress shopping!

I had the exact opposite experience than what you have been told. I had a WONDERFUL experience and I found my dress thereSmiley heart . I spent a few hours in a "fancy" store and the lady was rude, she was nasty to my best friend, who is of course is my MOH. I tried on every awful dress the lady picked out & not one of them was the style I wanted. She thought she knew best.

Fast forward to when we arrived at DB. We were listened to, she pulled every dress I wanted off the rack. We tried them on and even she was crying when the MOH and I committed to my dress. She made me feel like I was the absolute most important person in that shop along with my MOH. We loved our experience and to this day I smile to myself when I look at my dress because the witch at the first shop said to me as we were leaving "well god luck at DB, you won't find what you are looking for there. You'll be back!" HAHAHA no I won't!

We went to David’s and had a good experience. While my consultant was helping another girl, I never felt neglected or pressured. I went in knowing exactly what dress I wanted and was really sad when we couldn’t find it on the rack at first. She pulled a couple similar dresses for me to try and then she went back to the rack to find the dress. She found it right before I put the first dress on and she was so excited that she could find it for me.
We went first thing on a Saturday (like first appointment available). And they ordered the size I tried on from the rack because it fit like it was made for me. Obviously it needs hemmed but I had a very positive experience buying my dress as did my other friends and cousin who have shopped there.

I had a great experience with them. I went on a Saturday and while it was busy, I never felt rushed by my consultant. She came over and introduced herself, told me to pick 3 or 4 dresses I thought I’d like while she grabbed me undergarments and prepped my room, then she pulled the dresses I chose plus a few she chose for me. She did remind me that we had a 90 minute time slot and she had another bride after me, but I was able to try on 5 dresses in that time and I found the one that day. Like many other places, your experience will depend on their staff and you won’t know until you get there! So go, try on and have fun!

I LOVE David’s bridal!! I’m a size 16 as well and every dress I tried on was nearly perfect fitting. You should have a problem finding a dress there. And the prices you can’t beat!! Good luck

I'm bigger than a size 16 and I found my dress with David's Bridal. I went in to three different stores and tried on every dress in my favorites file on their website. I took pictures of every dress I tried on, went home and did a like and dislike list. Once I decided on my dress (two actually) I ordered it online. There's a trick to ordering with DB. If you order your dress at the store through them, you have 7 days from your purchase to request a refund after that then you receive a store credit. If you order the dress online yourself and have it delivered to your home, you have 7 days from the delivery date to return. You can make an appt and bring your dress into the store and try it on once you've received it and should there be any issues or change of heart you can return it and order something else. I don't believe I'll have a change in heart but it's nice to have that peace of mind should you find something else while waiting for your dress to arrive.

I went to David’s bridal and had a pretty good experience. I am a size 14 and they had A LOT of options. The two bridal boutiques I went to didn’t have many options for my size so I was very bummed by the time I got to DB. My consultant didn’t really do much besides zip my dress but I had 10 girls with me that helped me find a large variety of dresses. I got a dress that was way under my budget and I absolutely love it!
