Is anyone else doing plastic table covers?

Lynnie Pin, on January 13, 2014 at 2:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

I am on a budget, & had my areas where I could and couldn't splurge. For ex- getting married at a VFW or a really nice hall. I chose the nice hall, had I chosen the VFW I could have picked cloth..Anyways I now had to buy plastic table covers. They are dark brown///They don't really look too bad but I always kinda wished I could have had cloth. But I already looked into the expense and its just too much..

I was JW if I wasn't alone in this

I did cloth but I did not plan those very well and was 2 or 3 short and had to use plastic. I put the plastic on the overflow tables so they were not used as much, but from what I could tell people did not seem to care. (Our wedding was somewhat casual though, it was an outdoor buffet). I doubt it will be a big deal. YOU will not even notice on your big day!

Easy clean up and don't have to worry about washing them after or returning them to a rental place. Your centerpieces will catch guests eyes far more than your tablecloth material.

I believe we are. We've got close to 60 tables for guests we have to decorate. There's no way I'm buying/renting cloth for them all. It would cost us over a grand. I'm doing cloth on the head table, sign in table, cake table, etc. but all guest tables will have plastic.

I am in between about it. I can get 190 chair covers and sashes, 30 table clothes and runners for 460. But I am relooking at my budget and they are close to go.

I have considered it...but then a friend offered to sell me her tablecloths at $2.50 a pop. One thing, you CAN get good quality plastic table cloths. The darker the color, the better they look...so your brown ones should look MUCH better than, say, white. And, you can get "cloth like plastic tablecloths" too...though they are more expensive. One thing...adding a cloth runner can help spruce plastic up, too!

I haven't decided yet, but I sure don't want to pay all that money for cloth! I'm thinking of getting the paper tablecloths that look like linen.

The reviews seem pretty good for these: http://www.amazon.com/Vanity-Fair-Table-Cover-Count/dp/B004ZK4QQ0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1389659877&sr=8-3&keywords=paper+tablecloths

My mom did plastic and it looks perfectly fine. I don't think anyone even paid attention to the material to be honest, I never heard any comments about it?!

I'm considering it. I could save $150-$250. Hey, for that much we could take a sunset cruise just the two of us on our honey moon. P.s. When I look at other options to save, I look at what it could get us on our honeymoon. Ex: $300 an extra night at the hotel $100 parasailing It make me really think if it is really worth spending the extra money.

Oh gawd no. They are so awful! My Halloween bride did this and its the most stand out part of her reception. Ppl actually changed out of their nice clothes into shirts and jeans when they saw how cheap everything was

My mom did for her wedding and no one said anything. My venue includes them and napkins, I just have to pay for runners (which I ended up buying for less than renting using coupons).

Those amazon ones don't look bad. A review says they're more a paper feel(linen like paper), with a plastic spill proof backing.

@mrsking, do your clients guests often bring bags with extra "cheap" clothing in them??

LOL Cheetah, I was wondering the same thing about AlmostMrsKing's Halloween bride! I think anyone who brings a change of clothing, is planning to change, no matter...nothing to do with the linens! Smiley winking

The Vanity Fair tablecloths (linen like) look just like the Vanity Fair napkins you buy in the store. Though sturdier. Not horrible...but they only come in white, I think. Again, a table runner can spruce these up, or a sprinkling of wildflowers or petals or candies.

I didn't even think about a table runner, that's deff something to consider. I did dress a table up to see what everything would look like and it didn't look too bad but maybe a runner would make it pop and pull focus off the plastic.

I doubt my guests are going to change their clothes If I have plastic cloths lmao...

Haha mine won't change clothes. I'm thinking of Satin tablecloths for head table and for runners down every other table. Shouldn't be bad.

40th surprise birthday party for my daughter. 100 people. Can't afford cloth tablecloths. Would it be tacky to have teal plastic tablecloths with white satin runners for rectangle tables and satin square toppers for the round tables? Im using pretty white plastic dishes with silver trim.

You can get satin tablecloth for $7.99 off of Ebay that’s not a budget buster if you got less than 15 tables.
