Is anyone doing a wedding for $6,000 or less in STL?

Kathy, on January 10, 2015 at 7:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Anyone have a wedding that doesn't cost as much as a second mortgage?

Mine is about 7,000 for 150 people. The big costs are my dress, food, and the reception venue...we're doing everything we can to save money. I think it's silly to have a super expensive wedding unless you're loaded... why take out loans for a wedding? I'm glad I'm not having to!

If you keep the BP and the guest list under control, totally.

Yes, I know several couples of mine who invested about that much, and all 3 are some of the best I've shot. Examples below. However, it took a team effort and LOTS of sweat equity on their part, that most will not or can not do. Yes though, with some sweat and creativity, you can have an amazing wedding for that.

$6000 including honeymoon. Thankfully we have a lot of creative people in our lives. Our venue is CHEAP. We are looking at around 100 people.

Totally unrelated, but the 2nd of Jay's weddings had the very same cake topper that we had. Jay - you are amazingly talented. Any couple that uses your services as a photographer is ridiculously lucky. Great work.

Sorry I did not read the stl part. Hire I am keeping mine lite is using a community center that allows you to bring in your own alcohol and food. Also research, research and more research.

Awww thanks Karen M! Blushes Smiley laugh I wonder how you shared the same cake topper though, she was one of those who found everything unique, LOL! The groom's cake came from the bundt cake place, they had a cupcake bar.

I am from St. Louis but having a bigger wedding. My reception is in St. Charles/St. Peters area and not doing open bar, but beer and soda. Check out places like a restaurant with a private room, or even local halls. Have it around non meal times, make it cake and punch etc. It can be done, but you have to limit guest list and bridal party. What area are you in?

Depending on your guest list, check out All Occasions in St Charles off 70 and Cave Springs, and also I hear the Quail Park place out there off 40 and 70 is gorgeous. Mine is at UMSL but that place is about 1k plus insurance. If you need ribbons and lace, check out ebay! It takes about 3 weeks to get stuff that I ordered but mine came from China for cheap! (like 25 yards of skinny ribbon for about $1 or $1.25!)

Also check the local craigslist, There is a venue out in Jonesburg or Warrenton area that is an old farm or victorian house, looks cute. They advertise on there.
