Is a year and a half too long to wait to get married?

I got engaged back in June and life has been crazy since. My grandmother passed away and my family has kind of been in limbo. I had originally wanted a July or September wedding next year but considering nothing has been done and and I want a year to plan I don't think that will happen. Now I'm...

I got engaged back in June and life has been crazy since. My grandmother passed away and my family has kind of been in limbo. I had originally wanted a July or September wedding next year but considering nothing has been done and and I want a year to plan I don't think that will happen. Now I'm thinking March, I LOVE the idea of a spring wedding. I was thinking this might be too long to wait (almost two years). I'm worried our friend group will change and it will be difficult to get everyone together. Thoughts?

We got engaged in May of

this year and set a date for June 2018 and but we also had so much going on that actually just yesterday we met with with the venue and pushed out the date until Oct 2018 . And now I feel so relief.

I think it'll be perfect . As long as you feel good about it then everything will turn out .

Get married when it's right for you and your FS. True friends will be around when it comes the time

We were engaged for two years, our original date was 10/1/17 - two years is NOT too long!

I waited a year and a half. At first I felt as if it was eons away, but the time flew. It gave me plenty of time to plan and I never felt stressed until now. I'm happy I had that much time.

We were engaged a year and 8 months before our wedding. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. We're waiting to send out save the dates until around 6-8 months prior.

The date you choose is completely up to you. yes your friend group may change. however, if there is someone you want in your wedding and you are really close they will be there for you. 1.5 yrs is a perfect time to start planning. this gives you time to find the right venue and vendors.venues book up very early. when you start looking for a dress that also gives you time to find the right dress for you and your bridesmaids. enjoy the process this should be the enjoyable time for you.

Mine will be about 2.5 years. I wouldn't have minded it being 1.5 but it wasn't going to work out date wise. That being said, you will come up with a guest list now to have an idea of how many people you can expect but you will end up revising it 5-7 mths before the wedding. Some people came off of ours and some people were added. If you think that group of friends will change so much anyways do you really want people you won't be friends with in 6 months at your wedding anyways?

By the time I get married, we will have been engaged 2 and a half years.

If you're worried about the friend group, don't pick a bridal party until 9-12 months out, and don't share the date of the wedding until you send save the dates and you're sure they're invited! Smiley smile

I think it'll be fine. It's been a year and 8 months for us so far, and we still have the same guest list we started with.

Ours is 15 months and the only reason I think it's too long is because we kinda started planning before we got engaged and didn't really need to save up money. But I think a lot of people do 1 1/2 years
