Is a year and a half too long to wait to get married?

I got engaged back in June and life has been crazy since. My grandmother passed away and my family has kind of been in limbo. I had originally wanted a July or September wedding next year but considering nothing has been done and and I want a year to plan I don't think that will happen. Now I'm...

I got engaged back in June and life has been crazy since. My grandmother passed away and my family has kind of been in limbo. I had originally wanted a July or September wedding next year but considering nothing has been done and and I want a year to plan I don't think that will happen. Now I'm thinking March, I LOVE the idea of a spring wedding. I was thinking this might be too long to wait (almost two years). I'm worried our friend group will change and it will be difficult to get everyone together. Thoughts?

We were going to do a year engagement bit then with everything going on in our lives, pushed it to 2 years. There is nothing wrong with waiting until you see fit. Smiley smile

We waited a year and a half. And I'm so glad we did, because I did not want to plan a wedding in 6 months. I just wanted more time. Our wedding is in 14 days! Good luck!

My FH proposed April 2017, and we're getting married Oct 2018. I wanted enough time to plan and a year and a half seems like a good amount of time. I know couples who have been engaged for 2,3 years and haven't started the planning. Do whatever works best for you and your family.

I think it depends with where you're at in life. I know people that have been/were engaged for 3-4 years because they were in college when they got engaged but wanted to wait until after they graduated to get married. Personally, FH and I have been engaged for just under a year and a half.

Do whatever makes you happy, and whatever works best for you and your FH!

My aunt was engaged for 5 years. I don't think a year and a half is bad. We will be engaged for 16 months when we get married.

I got engaged beginning of August 2015 and didn't even begging to even think about planning the wedding until March of this year. In March we booked the venue for this October and I've done literally all of my planning in the last 6 months.

While I don't necessarily recommend jamming all the planning into 6 months, I am an advocate for taking as long as you need to have the wedding you want!

I was engaged for 5 years! Almost to the day! Haha. Due to some life events and money our wedding just kept being put off. I'm really glad we waited though, when the time was right everything kind of just cam together!

We had a year and a half engagement and I found it to be the perfect amount of time. Gotta get vendors booked quickly then slowly chip away at the rest

I'm not getting married until Spring 2019 either, we got engaged in July. We are loving the long engagement because we get to do a little at a time! Seriously, don't stress about it and use your time to enjoy planning!

I have been engaged since January 2015 and planning a wedding around September of 2019. We were young and getting life together.

It's completely up to you. I know I couldn't wait that long. FH and I originally wanted January of this year. I had to talk him into waiting until April of next

We're doing a year and a half, it's nothing really. Consider this, you're going to be together for that time anyways, so it's really not a big deal!

Life happens sometimes you need to take awhile to regroup. people have longer engagements than that so I think it would be ok & if someone asks you why tell them to mind their business umph

Yeah. I don't want to wait either, and I've been engaged since September of 2016.
