Is a ring bearer necessary?

nimzz, on December 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

I don't know, maybe I'm lazy or just don't know anything about weddings. I'm planning mine *almost* all by myself. My fiancé and I are pretty much doing everything. I was wondering if I have to have a ring bearer. I'm not having a big wedding and I want something simple in most aspects of our wedding.

I was wondering if my fiancé could have the box with the rings with him already. So that when the time comes he can just take it out and we can put the rings on. I've seen videos where usually a child goes up and takes the pillow/ring box but ehhh. It feels lame to me. Does it look dumb the way I want to do it?

Many, many people don't have ring bearers. The best man or maid of honor can hold the rings.

No it's not necessary. Don't worry about what other people think is dumb.

Not necessary at all. We don't have flower girl or a ringbearer.

I skipped it. The best man held them then handed them to the pastor. No flower girl either.

Totally unnecessary. Best man, MOH, or the officiant can hold the rings!

Yeah, we're going to have a flower girl because he has a niece of the right age that we're very close to, but there's no obvious choice for ring bearer so I'm not planning on bothering. No one will care.

We had 2 flower girls and no ring bearer. Our officiant specifically didn't want the rings in a box so as not to have to fiddle with it. My husband had them on his pinky and handed them to the officiant when it was time.

    They're not necessary at all!

For FH and myself we do not have any friends/relatives with children of age to be a ring bearer/flower girl. We might have my one dog be the ring bearer though because if we kenneled him for the day of the wedding he would probably kill himself or have a heart attack from all the stress.

Definitely not necessary. FH and I will probably have the best man hold onto them.

We didn't have a flower girl or ring bearer. No bridal party, either. FIL held onto the rings until the officiant needed them.

I have 2 flower girls and no ring bearers. The maid of honor and best man will be carrying our rings in and holding them.

I'm not having a ring bearer... Personally I think children carrying things in a wedding is silly. So any option outside that to me is a win.

It's not necessary if you don't have little kids to find a job for! A lot of times when the kids are little, they just carry a pillow or box with fake rings and the best man/maid of honor hold the actual rings. It's mainly for show and to include kids. I'm not having a flower girl because I don't have any little girls in my family, but I have 2 young sons and a young nephew so I want to include them in my wedding.

I don't think so, it's really up to you. I don't have a child the right age to be a ring bearer I am having a bible carrier which is unusual but my son is 13 and I wanted a place for him in the wedding. I think in a wedding it's all up to what the couple wants,
