So we're doing a pretty formal, white wedding. Fancy plated meal. A nice (hopefully) venue. Only bubbly for alcohol. Etc. We do want some dancing, but mostly classy music. NO club music. I'll probably throw in a waltz or two for my old-fashioned mom, but most of the music won't be THAT old fashioned/formal.
We aren't enthused about the price for a DJ, and are wondering if this is even necessary. We will be doing a first dance, and I'd like to do a mother-son/father-daughter dance, but not many "events." I want music that can be fun to dance to--jazzy and so on--for all ages, but I don't want it so loud that people can't sit and chat.
What do you think? Do we need a DJ for this, or can we just ipod it? Is it tacky to ask my master of ceremonies to announce the first dance, parent dance, and cake cutting?
