Hey everyone!

I got engaged at the beginning of December and we decided to wait until after the holidays to dive into wedding planning. Now that I’m looking into booking venues, vendors, etc I’m worried that nothing will have availability for this year! Especially since so many people had to postpone their weddings for the past two years.
anyone else looking to plan a wedding asap and running into issues?
I also had my heart set on a NYE wedding but not feeling overly confident that we’ll find a venue that isn’t already booked for that night. Waiting to hear back from some venues with fingers crossed

Congratulations! You are right that you probably have an uphill battle in securing a 2022 date at the most desirable venues/vendors as they are largely booked up due to COVID postponements. If your heart is set on 2022, try to keep an open mind about a Friday or a Sunday wedding, or even a Saturday brunch/afternoon event. Definitely prioritize the venue first, and then photography, and then hair/makeup - for some reason this can be one of the toughest to find! Good luck!

I don't think that a 2022 wedding is impossible, though you may have some challenges finding a venue and vendors, thanks to all the postponements caused by COVID. Check out non-traditional venues (museum, city park, community center, aquarium, etc), and/or consider a day other than Saturday (or even consider an off-season wedding). This may help with finding available vendors.

Congratulations on your engagement 🎉
We’re in the same boat! Got engaged in December and getting married in July. It’s totally feasible 😊 What’s helped me has been reaching out to venues and vendors much sooner than later. That’s if you and your fiancé have a tentative date, you can see if there is availability around the time you’re considering. Someone mentioned before a non-Saturday evening wedding helps with this, and it does!
