Is 6 months enough time to plan?

I'm in Chicago and having a reception in the suburbs. The reception venue is available in 8/27/16 but I'm worried I won't have enough time to plan. Right now all I have is a dress. I'm not planning on doing too much DIY (maybe invitations). Will I be rushed and stressed out with that time frame?

I'm doing it with about 5 months to go. You just have to be on top of everything.

I sure hope so! We got engaged on 12/20/15 and engagement will be just shy of six months. We secured our venue inside of a week of getting engaged (that was the big one). I admit that having budget helps (otherwise I'd have felt compelled to shop around for vendors more). But we really didn't want a long engagement and think six months is perfect!

It depends on where you live, how big you're wanting your wedding to be and the availability. It'll be stressful, but doable, I couldn't imagine doing it though.

Totally doable! I planned mine in 4 months. I also live in Chicago and I had my wedding in a suburb. Order of importance, IMO: Venue, officiant, dress, invitations, dj, photographer/videographer, everything else.

You can do it but will need to be flexible and decisive! If you like the venue, book it now. Then get all your other vendors in place and you are good to go.

I think the fact that the venue is available and you already have a dress will make it a lot easier. Sounds like your venue includes a lot so that's less vendors to track down. I would get going on e-pics and save the dates if you want them.

I got engaged on April 7th and married June 14th. It can be done, as long as the vendors are available.

I would book your big vendors asap. You might have to shell out a lot of money first month to lock everything down Smiley smile

It's totally doable in the Chicagoland area. There are sooo many vendors for everything. I recommend going to a bridal show with an appointment calendar and you can book appointments there and usually find out availability as well.

Some of your first choice vendors may be booked. Most of the good value ones book a year-2 years in advance. So to get what you want you may not get the best value. I'm in the suburbs, what venue?
