Is 4 years too early to start planning?

My boyfriend and I have decided that we are gonna get married in 4 years, enough time for me to finish college. He's more less proposed but there's no engagement ring (He did give me a promise ring 2 months into dating). Is 4 years too early to start planning. I know I can't book anything yet, but...

I would say yes as well, 4 years is to early. But i would look at venues and stuff and start saving so when it comes time to pay for everything big your not in a bind for money or wont go into debt for it.

Yes, especially when it comes to your wedding gown. Styles changes every year, I don't think a venue will let you book that far in advance either. I would just save, save & save and wait until 24 months out.

Wayyyyyyy too early to do any actual planning. No more than 1.5 years, in my opinion for ACTUAL planning. Feel free to make a pinterest board or collage, etc. Also, when you do begin to plan, ask your vendors if prices change from year to year.

Randee, did you confirm with your vendors that they're going to give you this year's prices? Most vendors, if they make regular increases, are not going to give you this year's prices when next year's costs could very well be different. Unless it's solidified in a contract and doesn't state that "pricing can change at any time depending on [whatever factor(s)]," you're not guaranteed those prices.

18 month is about right. A year is the norm.

You can still go to school and be a wife. Neither effects the other...

    Anyway, too soon!

I don't think there's anything wrong with looking at things you want, getting ideas from Pinterest etc. I even bought a few things I knew I would need for my wedding before I was even engaged bc it was a good deal. But to actually to start the "planning process" 4 years ahead is way too much. You will likely change your min about everything you plan now anyway.
