Do you typically invite the priest/deacon/minister to the wedding dinner/reception?

It's a very nice gesture. Remember, without them (and the two of you and the license) you don't get married Smiley smile

I invited my pastor and his wife, and we just got their yes RSVP yesterday. As Tina said, you can't get married without him/her.

Yes. Unless you're personal friends they probably won't accept. I typically am invited to the reception, but I only stay for part of cocktail hour; I really don't want my couples to pay for me to stay.

I know I need to invite the church pastor who is doing our ceremony, and I would love for him to come. But, I'm a little worried that he'll be upset when he sees me slamming back glasses of wine and dancing like a crazy woman. I'm glad you asked this question, because I wanted to know, too!

I'm not but that being said she is a justice of the peace I found in the governments website. If I had extra money to pay for her I would invite a closer friend j had to cut instead.

We extended an invitation to our officiant and he politely declined.

Crap! They come to the rehearsal dinner, too? My FMIL is weird about having people she doesn't know at her house. I'm surprised she's even letting my immediate family come to the RD!

My officiant appreciates the invitations but said he usually declines. He may have other weddings booked the same day if time allows.

We invited our Officiant and her husband (who drives her to the weddings) and they accepted. Everyone really enjoyed their company. But we did not invite them to our RD. Good luck and Best wishes !!

Even if it is the pastor of the church where you grew up, he/they probably won't stay until the end of the reception (no worry about drinking/dancing, garter toss).

We have developed a really great relationship with the priest that is marrying us, he makes us feel like he is part of our family. So we will definitely be inviting him. Smiley smile
