Inviting a "celebrity"

Mrs J, on March 1, 2018 at 2:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 38
I saw a post awhile ago about inviting celebrities to one's wedding and kind of chuckled at it at the time. Well, we're putting together or invites, and have decided to to include one on a whim. John Prine will be playing a concert in our city on our wedding day. My FH is a lifelong fan of John Prine, always playing his songs on the guitar with his father and brothers, so we figured why the heck not? Lol. We're including a personalized note in the invite as well to explain ourselves a bit. We fully expect nothing to come of it, but figured there's no harm in trying. Guess we'll have to wait and see... Is anyone else doing something like this? In feeling a bit goofy about it, and would love to not feel alone in this! Haha!

I'm hoping to send an invitation to FH's favorite baseball player. I honestly have no idea how to start that process, but I am at least going to try and contact the team's front office.

I live in Washington DC. We were thinking of inviting the Obamas since they're still in town. But they get a lot of wedding invitations, apparently.

I just looked up his managing company. No clue if it'll work or not, but figured it was worth a try! 😂

Our guilty pleasure is watching Gordon Ramsay's Hotel Hell and Kitchen Nightmares so we'll most likely be sending him an invite Smiley xd However, on the off chance he does show, I hope our caterer meets his standards!

I tried sending one to Dan Marino, since FH is a big Dolphins fan. Apparently Dan Marino doesn't like his fans and has all his fan mail sent to the hall of fame, where we never sees it. We are thinking about sending one to Mickey and Minnie Mouse since we love Disney. We are also going to send Darth Vader a letter after my fiance adopting my sons becomes official, to do something special as a congrats to our son.

I Invited a "celebrity"/really well known Floridian and he facebook lived opening the invitation. It was really sweet but he put everything out there, my address the invitation date, location and time. He seemed really appreciative about it but like 10,000 people saw my address and wedding details.

My first wedding back in 1999 I invited George & Barbara Bush - I received back the RSVP as well as a lovely letter from the First lady. I still have it, it was so nice.

Ha! We sent an invitation to our favorite music artist and his girlfriend. We're planning on getting tattoos of the symbol of this music artist after our wedding, so it's a pretty serious love.

We also sent ones to the Obamas, of course.

Love Gordon Ramsay but I'd be sweating if he came to my wedding. Can you imagine a live episode of masterchef with the kitchen staff? Smiley laugh Smiley laugh

I had no idea this was a thing... but let me go ahead and borrow this idea. No harm if they actually can make it! Good luck!

Just wondering, if a celebrity does show up, will it upstage the bride and groom? I feel like I may just want the letter congratulating us. Lol

I went to a wedding where there was a celebrity guest, and I don't feel that took any attention from the B&G. I think she was relieved to be able to be a normal person for a night! She is probably the biggest pop/country star of our time but was more interested in kickin' it like she was Susan from Accounting.

Were sending one to the Obamas! I wonder if at any point any of these folks think, ‘screw sending a letter, I’m going!’ I’d cry I’d be so excited 😂

I'm going to be sending an invite to Minnie and Mickey mouse, because they sign a picture and send it back with a congrats letter. I'm a HUGE Disney fan and my favorite character is Minnie, so I wanted something cute like that to put in with our other guest notes.

This is super cute! My FH is a diehard snowmobiler and when we were talking about an engagement he said I will put a ring on your finger if you get Larry the Enticer to come.. (he’s insanely YouTube famous for his really funny but silly snowmobile stunts) so I sent him a Facebook message and he responded the next day saying if we got married in Canada he would even officiate it lol..
