Invitations to out of state guests.. When to send?!?

Kimberly1022, on June 8, 2014 at 10:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I live in Tampa, FL and my wedding isn't until 3/6/15, however, about 80% of my guests live in NJ. I know for "destination" weddings, the save the dates go out about a year in advance, but I'm unsure of the invitations. I'm thinking it should be atleast 3 months so people have enough time to plan travel arrangements and stuff... But when should I set the RSVP date for?

I still think 3 months is fine. They can plan travel arrangements based off your save the dates.

Our out-of-state guests will receive a Save-The-Date 8 months before the ceremony. The invitation will be mailed out 3 months before the ceremony.

Rquesting a response the 1st week in February is good.

I think the RSVP date usually depends on when your venue needs the final numbers. Mine requires them two weeks ahead of time so I made the RSVP date three weeks ahead of time to give me a week to track down stragglers. I think a month is fine though.

FH's family all lives in PA and NJ and our wedding is in SC where we live. Our STDs are going out 10 months in advance (this month) and we will do our invites the typical 3 months ahead probably. They can make their travel plans from the STDs, especially since our website is on there to point them toward accommodations. I guess I would make the RSVP date 3 weeks in advance of the caterers deadline.

About 95% of our guests are out of state. We did Save-the-Dates 9 months in advance, and will be doing invitations 3 months in advance, with an RSVP date 1 month before the wedding.

I think this is the hardest part about not getting married in your home state...

We are sending out save the dates in January for our September wedding and invites first week of June. At least that's the plan for now =)

I sent the STD about 11 months prior to our wedding, and I've decided we will send the invitations in early December. And the RSVP date will be February 2nd, that's a month prior to the wedding. I think that will be good!

We have lots of out-of-town guests (maybe 70%) and we sent out the S-T-Ds 8 months before the wedding (via email; we designed them). We also did electronic invitations that we designed ourselves, and sent them out 12 weeks before the wedding. If I'd had to mail any, I would have done them maybe a week earlier (I hand-delivered one to my grandma when I visited her in MT, even though it was 'late'). Our RSVP by date is 3 weeks before the wedding, so we can track down people after that if need be.
