Invitation wording! UGHHH!

Mrs. Del Grosso, on November 19, 2012 at 8:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

So I'm starting to type of the wording for our invitations and I'm lost. I have the template ready to go I just need to figure out how to put it "correctly" on the invitation. FH and I are hosting the wedding so I was thinking this

Saturday, The Twenty-Ninth of June

I love your wording!! The wedding is from 4:30 - 5 and then we are having cocktail hour from 5 - 6 and then reception from 6-10 should i mention cocktail hour and reception on the invitation or just do cocktail hour or only reception to follow?

You'll wanna watch that random capitalization.

We left it just as "reception to follow" which indicates that there's no gap of time between the ceremony and reception, which is really all they need to know at that point.. on the bottom of our programs we are putting a little blurb asking guests to stay in their seats so that we can usher them out and then letting them know that they can head upstairs (ceremony and reception are in one venue) for cocktail hour.. make sense?

Yes it makes sense but here is my issue. Ceremony and Reception are in the same room but during cocktail hour the room is being flipped for the reception so the guest will have to leave the actual room where ceremony and reception are being held and go out to the lobby/patio/outside and what not.

    Edited for spell check

@Future Mrs. D, does the venue have staff that shuttle the guests around? My guests have to move between areas, but the venue staff will be making sure they go where they need to. I don't think that's something you need to say on the invitations.

They have staff that comes in to change the room around but I'm not sure about shuttling the guests around. I need to get in contact with the event coordinator about this. I'm sure I can have the DJ announce after the wedding party leaves to take pictures that "Please feel free to mingle in the lobby while the wedding party is taking pictures, there are appetizers and drinks as well" or something like that and just put "Reception to follow" on the invitation

    Reception immediately following.

I am sure your guests will get the hint they need to leave that room. They will follow others.

I like the suggestions from these ladies. I would maybe ask your officiant to make that little announcement of where to go.... that will help with any confusion.
