Intoxication on your big day

Will you guys be drinking at your reception? My family keeps telling me I shouldn’t at all. Which is upsetting, I want to have fun! I’m not trying to get sloppy drunk, will you guys be opting out of drinking?

No alcohol at our wedding or reception. It's at a church. But even if it wasn't fh and I already said there would be none simply because we know how a few family members are when they get around alcohol. An adult beverage or two during the honeymoon might be in order. A vaca without kids!

Are they worried you'll get passed out drunk and embarrass yourself? I can't imagine why anyone would say that unless for that reason. but so what?! drink and be wedded merry!

I am drinking just wine.. maybe a fireball.. Maaaayyyybeee a mojito.. but I am still hungover from last week. Apparently I can't handle my liquor anymore, haha. Never again! LOL

    congrats and enjoy your day!

That's crazy - it's your wedding! Celebrate how you want to. It's YOUR day! This is why my fiance and I are just doing an elopement - I did the regular wedding before and regret listening to everyone's opinions. Don't make the same mistake I did! You're paying for a nice reception for everyone, you have to enjoy it as well. No need to get sloppy like you said, but I would certainly enjoy!

I had some champagne in the limo on the way to the reception and then the cider for our toast and that was it. I'm really not a big drinker though.

Nope, we had a dry wedding! I will say though that we barely had time to drink ANYTHING other than during the meal. I was so thirsty lol. at one point the best man got me a latte from our coffee bar but I never even had a chance to drink it while it was still hot!

I want to drink at mine but I’m only a little hesitant because once I start if I only have one or two I get a headache. If I don’t want a headache I gotta go hard or go home 😂😂

Definitely agree with others about the adrenaline! I was always planning on drinking but knew that I was going to pay attention to how I was feeling and make sure I wasn’t too drunk/would remember the night. I drank more than my usual tolerance and never once felt tipsy

I only drink in special occasions. So yes I will be partaking in the drinking shenanigans on my special day. I may take a shot or two before the reception haha

You do what makes you happy. I will most certainly be drinking but I won't get hammered. That's for the next day.

I absolutely am. I won't get hammered, but I'll have a couple throughout the night. It's your day. Do what you want!
