Intimate wedding "reception" at restaurant

Katie , on January 29, 2018 at 2:02 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Hi everyone,
Fh and I are having a small intimate wedding ceremony with 50 or fewer people probably closer to 40 at a small tiny church. We are having a buffet dinner reception with cake at a local restaurant in a private room. We're able to decorate and have centerpieces, etc. We decided on no dj because its mostly family and my fh and myself don't like to dance and we're pretty certain that our family and few close friends won't either. Anyways, we are looking for ideas to entertain our guests while at the restaurant, game ideas, etc. Would it be tackyvto have an ipod playing music in tge background or should we just skip. Tganks all!

We're doing the same thing but with about 35 people. We'll just have some background music using a tablet. I don't think you need games. I'm sure people will socialize and keep themselves entertained as long as they have food and drinks.

I wouldn't worry about games. An intimate dinner sounds lovely and if you have some good food and a little music in the background everyone will socialize and have a good time. Maybe have those little "advice" cards or something for them to do but don't worry too much about structured games.

Ditto - an ipod with light background music could be really nice but I wouldn't bend over backwards to do it. It will have the feel of a dinner party if you don't/can't have it - which I think is great!

I LOVE music at any event - so using an ipod is a great idea. Do you have access to any outdoor space? I love the trend of doing yard games - such as cornhole or giant jenga - at a wedding. However, that may make the wedding more casual then you were intending.

You should definitely have an ipod playing some nice background music. It will help set the mood for your reception. As far as entertainment - maybe have some cards, board games, etc for people to play?

We had a small reception at a restaurant just 6 people total. We didn't have a private room but it was early afternoon and only one other couple in the restaurant so we basically had the room to ourselves. We were there at least 2 hours between dinner and cake and just talking and having a good time. And these guests were family that we see all the time. I would think with 50 people friends and family that probably don't see each other often you really don't need any type of entertainment. Maybe background music if not provided by the restaurant.

My wedding was at a restaurant, in the private rooms. 42 guests. There was a little dancing, and then everyone drank and talked for a few hours. Nothing else was needed.

My favorite wedding as a guest was a private dinner at a reception room in a restaurant. We had fabulous food and wine pairings to die for.

They had soft background music. No games. I don't get dressed up for a wedding to play games.

People love to socialize and with 40-50 guests you can actually spend time with each person.
