Intimate Ceremony Ideas!

Hgilbert, on March 31, 2022 at 1:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 17
We are having a really intimate ceremony with less than 35 people. Not a lot of big dancers in our family, what is everyone doing, besides dancing, for their reception entertainment?

Photo booth, lawn games (if space permits it or if you have an outdoor venue), hiring a caricature artist/live painter, hiring a magician (or comedian or other entertainer), board/card games at each table, and/or setting up comfy couches and chairs for people to sit and chat with each other would all be ideas of things you can do that don't involve dancing!

Such good ideas thank you! We are already planning on having some lawn games but I really just don’t want anyone to be bored! Thanks so much!

In our families and social circles only the younger people dance. The older ones prefer to sit and catch up with each other. If we had other activities beyond that, they would be confused. No one is bored because everyone finds something they enjoy.

We are considering but not committed to a photo booth. Maybe a tattoo artist as well. Our crowd isn’t into board games or lawn games.

Wow a tattoo artist!!! That sounds like my kind of wedding! 😂 I think some of the people would like the lawn games, some to chat, I didn’t want to rent a photo booth but was thinking of doing like a Polaroid camera or something and setting up a photo wall and backdrop with props!

We have 45 guests. We are having a shorter reception + cocktail hr (4 hrs total) & our timeline leaves us with 1 1/2 hrs (after dinner, toasts, & cake cutting) to mingle with our guests. So, we decided we didn’t need entertainment. We are basically having a fancy dinner party. We considered lawn games, but without a tent or the guarantee of good weather we couldn’t justify the extra time/expense. But I love the idea! We also considered doing a trivia game.

I think if you have good food and drinks, no-one will be bored. Think of it like a really good party. People will mingle and socialize, I'm sure.

Some of my family is a little awkward (there is some tension!) so I was just thinking of things to really break the ice between certain family members but you’re right. I am sure everyone would be happy to put their differences aside for a few hours for my wedding!

I don't know if you need much entertainment as most people will just be talking and hanging out and stuff. I recently held an anniversary party where we had activities on the table that were based on the year they were married. I had about 7 different pages for people to do while they were waiting and talking. Sometime through the night I went through the answers and the winning tables won a box of chocolates. You could find pages on the years you were born as well. We found the pages already made on Etsy and they were great quality.

We thought about who we really would want to be there! Like just our immediate families- parents, siblings, and grandparents. Then closest friends on each side. We both have small families and just a few close friends so it made it really easy for us!

It was great fun and everyone really got in to it. They really loved it if their table won a prize too. It was great to just break the ice and look back in to the past as well Smiley smile. It wasn't hard to do either. I just printed out the sheets for each table and then put them into a clear plastic bag and put some markers in there as well so they had something to write with and just put them on each table. It was easy but fun Smiley smile I told everyone at the start of the night there would be prizes too so they knew and I think that made them more interested as well Smiley smile.
