Insulin Pump & Wedding Gown

Sara, on January 26, 2022 at 4:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2

Type 1 Diabetic Brides, how did you deal with your insulin pump and your wedding gown? I usually stuff it in my bra but I don't see that working with my gown. Any ideas? Bonus points if you have pics! Thanks!

Such a good question! My first thought was you could have a pocket sewn inside the skirt on the seam with a small piece of velcro to keep it shut, but this really depends on your dress silhouette and the material.

She has some good ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S_lQ_bzmKk

And there's a bunch of interesting ones here: https://www.tandemdiabetes.com/en-ca/blog/post/say-i-do-to-these-wedding-tips-how-5-newlyweds-managed-t1d-on-their-day

Someone asked it on here in 2017 and 1 bride said:

I used to be on the pump and I was going to have my seamstress sew in a pocket. When I tried on my dress, I clipped it in the center of my bra and you couldn't see it at all. It wasn't the most comfortable option and that'll only work depending on the style of your dress. Good luck!!

ETA if it's a full enough skirt, you might just be able to wear some spanx and clip it to the top of those like you would any other pair of pants. I used to do jay all the time and it worked like a charm if the skirt was full enough

If you haven't bought your dress yet, you may luck out and love one that already has pockets!

My friend always had her pump attached to her jeans. What she did for her wedding was have a lace thigh holster waaaaaaaay up her leg and put it in there.
