Inner envelope for invites?

Is there still supposed to be like an envelope to go in the envelope for invitations? Is there still supposed to be like an envelope to go in the envelope for invitations? My Mom mentioned it and and all the "how to address them" articles they mention the outside envelope and then the inside envelope, but I just got mine delivered and there's only the main one and then the one that the rsvp's come back to us in. Am I missing something? Do people not do this anymore or do I need to order them again/separate? I used vistaprint.

I'm skipping them. Seems like a waste of paper to me and it will probably increase the postage needed.

Inner envelopes used to be a lot more common. But they are not required. Particularly if you have pocketfolds or belly bands, a lot of people skip them.

Many people put their rsvp card with a pre-stamped envelope inside the whole invitation envelope. You can skip them if you are doing an online RSVP or via phone

I remembered them being a little thin @MauiWowie when we did our std's so I thought I picked the option for the security print or whatever on the inside but I must not have.

I guess I mostly want them because we don't want kids at the wedding and supposedly it's all in how you address the envelopes? So I want to make sure people get the point lol thank you everyone for your advice looks like I'll be making another run to Michaels this weekend! Hopefully they can help or Staples.

@AlmostPrang, I got the outer envelopes (A7.5) from LCI Paper and the inner envelope (A7) from cards and pockets. If you got envelopes from VistaPrint with your invites, those are probably A7. So you'll need A7.5 envelopes, which are slightly bigger.

Yeah, you usually have to specify inner envelopes because most people don't use them anymore. We had a kid-free wedding so I used them to make it clear who was invited.

Having inner envelopes won't necessarily increase your postage cost, depending on how many inserts, etc. you have. I used inner envelopes and was able to send them on one regular first class stamp - but I had no inserts and nixed belly bands to do it.

I planned to use them, but the pre-addressed envelopes I ordered from Minted barely fit the invitations. They were supposed to be 5.25" x 7.25" for my 5x7 invitations so I'm not quite sure why there's zero extra room. But there's no way I could have gotten the inner envelopes in there so I scrapped them.

My invites from Wedding Paper Divas came with white A7 envelopes for free. I didn't want to use white outer envelopes because I was afraid they would get too dirty in the mail, especially with it being winter. So I ordered A7.5 envelopes from Cards & Pockets (very reasonable!) in my color and used the free white envelopes as inner envelopes. I also wanted a way to specify who was invited without putting "adult reception only" on the invites so it was a two birds, one stone sort of deal for me.

We skipped the inner envelopes. It really wasn't necessary to have them.

Thanks MayBride! (And everyone!) I stuck an invite in the envelope today and you can see it a little so I think I will start the search for others. Hopefully I did get A7 from Vistaprint! I emailed them and they did clarify for me that they don't offer inner envelopes so at least I know I didn't skip right by that part!
