Inexpensive Reception Food Ideas!!!

Elizabeth, on October 31, 2013 at 12:15 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

Our wedding is at 2pm in the afternoon.. reception at 3ish. I had this idea to have a baked potato bar, dessert bar, and ice cream.

Or

Popcorn bar, dessert bar, and ice cream.

Do I need something more substantial for this time of day? Any ideas??

That sounds exceptionally informal...are you having a full reception with music and dancing?? Or just a "cake & punch"-type reception??

If you're having a full reception, I would say that is not nearly substantial enough; but if you're only have a few family members get together in a backyard, that seems appropriate-ish.

I don't know if I would only serve a baked potato with dessert though, the two don't seem to mix. Popcorn and dessert sound better...and if you're doing a really laid back reception, making it look like a movie theater concession stand might be cute??

    Best of luck!! Smiley smile

If you do the potato bar you need real food to go with it. I'd be pretty upset if I went to a we doing and was told all we have is Ice cream and potatoes.

If your reception is at 3, I would maybe so some pulled pork sliders or something like that with the baked potato bar. I agree with the other ladies that if you want potato, you would probably want something more substantial. I also agree that potatoes and dessert only doesn't really make sense.
