Incorporating tween cousins into the wedding.

Sarah, on April 26, 2016 at 11:45 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

I have two cousins which I'd like to find a way to incorporate in the wedding day festivities. They're too old to be flower girls but not really old enough to be in the bridal party. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

    Greeters, guest book attendants, ushers

You could do junior bridesmaids. If you're opposed to that idea though you could have them do readings or be ushers.

This is a great thread! I'm in the same boat with two of my cousins, mostly I think because their older sister is in the BP. We are going to try to have them be ushers/attendants, though they aren't the only cousins without a "job" (as they see it). I love that they want to help, and it's very nice of you to want to include your cousins!

I'm having an 11 year old as a junior bridesmaid. Otherwise maybe including them in the getting ready part of the day and having them hand out programs or something?

I think a special dress coordinating to your BP. Not the same but I'm guessing half the fun for them would be the dressing up and being seen as older and important. Programs, welcoming guests, are great ideas.

I have two tween cousins. One of them did a reading and they both handed out our ribbon wands following the ceremony.

    These are great ideas!

I'm not a huge fan of the junior bridesmaids idea but I still want them to feel special. They're on the shyer side and I'm not sure if they'd be too nervous to do a reading but maybe they'd like to be ushers together.

I think I'll definitely have then get ready with the BP and maybe get them matching BP robes as well.

Edit: sjd85, the ribbon wand is a really cute idea, did you incorporate them into pictures?

I agree with @Matt. I'm opposed to giving people jobs just so they feel "honored", with the exception of readers.
