Import duty on wedding dress

I haven’t personally, but I watch the show border security on Netflix a lot (it drives my fiancé crazy lol) and they show people traveling back to the US with things they purchased that require duty pretty often. I don’t know the exact percent and it could be different depending on your dress, but I don’t think it’s very high. Maybe less than 10%? I’m sorry that’s probably not much help. See if you can find a customs .gov type of website and they should have more info for you! Good luck!

You should definitely check out the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website. A whole host of factors can affect the duty charged (such as weight and declared value of the item) so it would be super important to understand all these before placing your order.

Have you looked into a mail forwarding company? If you’re not comfortable ordering directly yourself and handling the customs duty, their expertise could be useful.

Can your wedding dress only be purchased from Australia? Are there any stockists in the US?
