Illusion back dresses for busty brides

Sarah S., on January 31, 2016 at 1:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 15

So my first bridal appointment is this Saturday. In the past month I've been looking at lots of pictures (and let's face it, binge watching say yes to the dress). I've fallen in love with a particular style - the lace illusion back. But, I'm a bit busty (thank you Polish ancestry) and don't know if I can even wear a dress like that. You clearly can't wear a regular bra.. so my question is, can they build in a bra at the front for D+ cup? Or should I reconsider my dress style? I don't want to go in Saturday with one idea and be disappointed... Do any of you have an illusion back dress? Post your gorgeous pictures!

One of the dresses I really like is an illusion back and I don't have to wear a bra! I'm a 36DD. (I'm wearing one in this picture, but I tried it without and it was perfectly fine!) This dress also has a corset bodice, so that helps with the support!

It's going to depend on the individual dress. If it's structured (think strapless with decorative/not functional illusion back,) you should be fine. If the illusion back is functional and helps keep the dress up, you're going to have more issues.

I wear a 36P and my strapless is structured enough that I don't need a bra. I couldn't get away without one in an unstructured dress though.

My tailor was able to alter a long line bra to fit under my illusion back dress. I can't find the link to my BAM but if you click through you can see the back of my dress. It was fine. I'm a 32ff to put it in perspective.

    Try this bra- http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/nordstrom-lingerie-backless-strapless-bra/3333078?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Nude&resultback=357

I wore it with an illusion back dress to my engagement party and it was great. I have DDD chest and normally can't wear strapless bras, or backless stuff. I love this bra because the cups are like a normal bra, and the sides are sticky, so its not like one of those bras that are sticky all over.

That's the kind of dress I was looking for too went I went shopping but ended up getting a completely different style then what I thought I liked. Like Jsarge said go into shopping with an open mind, try on different styles.

If you do get a dress with an illusion back just talk to you consultant and the seamstress about what would work best for you.

I'm a 34 d and my dress is illusion back. It has a lot of structure in the front so it stays up fine. The illusion is structural as it's not a strapless style with the illusion just for show. It works out fine.

I am a 32d and i went with an illusion back dress. I havent done the alterations yet. The bridal store told me they could build in a bra but everyone agreed it wasnt necessary. The structure of the dress (and from what i understand most wedding dresses) really does offer more support than you would think.

My dress has an illusion back and I'm 32DD (not extremely busty but large for my frame). My seamstress put in cups and it's perfectly supportive.

Dont waste your money on that bra. It doesn't work at all. I have an illusion back and a deep V front... so I am having a hard time as well. But I have bought so many sticky bras in my life time and the nordstrom/macys ones do not work at all. The only one I got that worked was from a prom shop. I am a 32D.

Honestly for your size you will most likely be fine with cups. It's when you get to DDD and up that they start to have issues holding up.
