Illinois Wedding on a Budget #anxietybride

Kay, on February 27, 2020 at 10:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

Hi Everyone. I am recently engaged(2/15/20)! While I am overjoyed I am extremely paranoid about going into debt. I have been searching for venues and everything seems so costly. I would love to plan something that costs around 12,000-16,000 in total, food, booze, venue, decorations. Have you had a wedding (in Illinois) where you kept it around that price? I live in the Northwest Suburbs but I am open to venues up to an hour away and I will have about 130-150 people.

I am extremely open to any dates and kind of venue and would really appreciate any help. I'M STRESSED!!

Thank you!!!

If you’re the outdoorsy type, i’ve heard from many brides that weddings at Starved Rock are very affordable!

I actually grew up 15 minutes down the road from Starved Rock and the Lodge is beautiful! A lot of towns in that area have nice restaurants and options for venues. I know it's a little further than an hour, but it would be well worth the trip!

We are in Illinois, and doing our wedding for that price. But we're way out of Chicago and closer to St. Louis.

I'd suggest looking at places as far out as the Metra will take you. Or even a short Amtrak ride. The further out, the cheaper it should get.

It would be a little further for you probably, but The Homestead Reception Center in Tallula (right outside Springfield) is INCREDIBLE. For $3,000 we have the venue Tuesday-Sunday, the couple who own it work as day of coordinators and are so helpful already ( I am 8 weeks out!). They provide lemonade, water, sweet and unsweet tea, mason jar glasses, and china dishes, as well as a ton of decorations. It is a beautiful place!

That’s awesome! What a coincidence LOL so do you still have family in that area? Maybe having it there would be convenient for your guests. It’s also convenient that there are hotel rooms and cabins right there in the same area as the wedding facility that out-of-town guests could stay at, and at an affordable rate! Starved rock is definitely beautiful in the Fall!

I am having my reception at Biagio's in Chicago, it is the small portion of Chicago that pops out West towards O'hare. It is a little South of 90 (Central and Montrose/Lawerence). They have been amazing to work. Their food is absolutely amazing, I highly recommend! They can do just the reception or they are able to set up to ceremony and reception. They have a more modern looking room and a more rustic room.

I'm not the OP but my parents still live there! I'm getting married in NY haha.

But yes, the Fall is STUNNING in Starved Rock.

Also from the northwest suburbs! Have you heard of The Denada House? I have a friend who's getting married there and with your budget I think it's doable.

Starved Rock is beautiful but can get very chilly! Even in the summer, I find myself wearing a long sleeve on hikes due to all of the trees/shade.
