Ideas for officiant gift

Nicole, on August 10, 2013 at 12:15 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

A friend is officiating our wedding. She's not a close friend, but she was thrilled when we asked her to be our officiant. She's putting a lot of thought and effort into the ceremony and I know she's going to do a great job. She declined payment for her services (this isn't her job, just something she's done a few times for friends).

I want to get her something as a thank you. Suggestions? She's mid 30s, single and has two dogs.

Sounds like similar situation for us. I asked a chaplin with whom I have worked with off and on for about 2 years. She was thrilled but so far has declined to discuss the financials saying we can talk about that later. I am thinking about looking into a Christian bookstore for a gift card or just a regular bookstore too.

We, too, are having our officiant pretty much do us a favor. She says it can be our wedding gift from her but, I still feel a need to buy her a gift.

I just have no idea what! Lol We can't do gift cards since she is a little older and lives in an extremely small town, she would have no use for them. I've thought about going to hobby lobby and getting the materials to make one of those pretty wooden crosses that you can buy at a boutique. I just think the personalization would mean more than flat out buying it!

I asked a friendly competitor (we refer our overflow to each other) to officiate at my vow renewal. I wrote the ceremony and just needed her to read it. She wouldn't accept a fee, so I gave her a book of marriage advice that she could pass along to her clients.

Our officiant is my groom's aunt. OUr wedding is at a B&B and she is staying the night before and the night of. Our plan is to just write her a heartfelt thank you note an have it waiting for her in her room. Simple, but meaningful. And then just make sure you send her some of the professional pictures.

    Boxed chocolates....

Gift card for food, clothes, or even Petsmart! If you know a place she likes to go.
