Ideas for honoring both deceased parent's in wedding?

EXCITED BRIDE, on November 16, 2010 at 9:15 AM

So I've been thinking along with my bridal party of how to honor both of my deceased parent's in my wedding! I was thinking I could have one of my older brothers to walk beautiful flowers down to where my mom seat is, and have my twin brother walk a hat down to my dad's seat (since he loved hat's)...

( I just hope I don't break down while walking down the aisle, with seeing dat, and then hearing my wedding song makes me want to cry all alone)

I have lost really close family members as well as FH dad passed away so we are releasing butterflies in honor of them and it goes good with our butterfly wedding theme.

    Sorry for everyones loss.

You could have charms of her as well, otherwise speeches, candles, a framed photo by the guest book maybe

I officiated a wedding where all of the family (don't remember if it was B's or G's) wore a little red cardinal pin or had a cardinal pin in a bouquet. It was the favorite bird of a g'ma who had recently passed away.

Beatrice, your FH could wear one of his mom's pins on his lapel, or carry something in his pocket that would remind him of her. (Just make sure it's out of his pocket before he returns the tux.)

    Excited bride,

I have lost both parents as well.

I am the only one that will not have had them walk down the aisle with.

So to honor them, and to fulfill the*dream* ,

My oldest son who will be 23 at the time of wedding and my youngest son who will be 15, will walk me down the aisle, My oldest son will be carrying a 10X13 picture of my parents with him, making it that they are still walking down the aisle with me..

We are getting married at a golf course, and the ceremony will take place under the gazebo , at the gazebo will be officiants, FH, myself and the picture on an easel.

For the dinner/reception I will have a In Memory table set up with an album of all those who have passed away from both of our sides with a few candles.

I'm so sorry for ALL of your losses! My father has passed as well (8 yrs ago), but it still feels like yesterday Smiley sad He was my best friend & everytime I think about anything wedding related I could just ball! I wear his wedding ring everyday & will be tying it around my bouqet. Leaving his seat empty & putting flowers as well. My son is walking me & he will be wearing a set of dad's cuff links. We found a nice poem for remembering fathers that we might add to the programs. Trying to keep all the memorial things silent b/c it is really painful & we want to keep the day as happy as possible! Someone might say something during the toasts/speeches, but I will have gotten through the ceremony by then & I think I'd be ok Smiley smile

    Good luck Excited!!

I lost both my grandparents, a very young cousin and he has lost several uncles, all of which we wish could be there. Our plan is to have an open chair reserved at the front of the ceremony. At the begining of the ceremony, the officiant is going to say that the seat is reserved for those that can not be with us but that we know are watching us on our wedding day. Then we are going to have them mention the names of those few people and "everyone else that couldnt be there."
