Ideas for diy transportation?

Stephanie, on July 1, 2019 at 9:40 AM Posted in Planning 1 3
Just starting to brainstorm transportation for our party and us from the hotel, to our venue (about 20 minutes away, in a more rural area), and then back downtown again! We don’t really have room in our budget for a limo, plus I don’t want to pay for the limo to literally drive us there, sit around for 6+ hours and then drive us back. I’ve been thinking of just renting a minivan or a larger passenger van and having someone we know drive us! Thoughts? I’m looking for ideas and different ways that you all are/have chosen to DIY transportation!!

Can you just use Uber xl and pay for a few big SUVs. I feel like that would make more sense and be less liability than asking a friend to be your transportation.

That’s on my list of maybes, but my concern is that Uber is only about a year old in our area, and my venue is about 20 minutes out of the main Uber area.. I think rides THERE in the early afternoon would be fine, it's the rides BACK that concern me as to if they would be available or not!

    Hi there Stephanie!

I personally would imagine liability issues arising with hiring a minivan or larger passenger van and having someone you know driving. When renting, a company may look for some type of public liability insurance, etc. It may not be super straight forward.

Have you priced hiring a passenger van with a driver? Or perhaps a school bus? Is it completely out of budget?
