Ideas for displaying table names wanted!

Kirsty, on November 24, 2010 at 10:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

We've decided to use names for our tables

- naughty

- silly

- noisy

etc

But not sure the best way to label them up, so people know which is which when they get to the table.

Need something we can DIY, and without much money, or time required! Our table centres are glass candle lanterns with black metal frame, surrounded by small candle votives in clear glass. Then we have red flat bottomed christmas baubles as place name holders. Also considering using some ruffled red voile material discs under the latern. The table cloths are ivory.

Was considering cutting the words out of paper and laying them round in a circle, but would like some other ideas.

I'm not good at these stuff but your idea sounds good, you can lay them in a circle around your centerpiece or simply put up the name with a picture that match the each name, for example a funny picture for silly, etc...

Wedding wire has a seating chart where you can change the table names. You could print that out and display it...

I thought about pictures, even considered Mr Men books (not enough of appropriate names), but the names are quite close together so silly could be mistaken for cheeky etc.

Think I may go with words written out and leave it at that.

Thanks Kim but it's for the names ON the tables, not on the seating chart itself.

I just started brain storming our table numbers and I found a template that folds so the number stands up on its own. It seems to be pretty sturdy so far. I used 65 lb weight card stock. Check out the pic for better detail.

Just realized the number wasn't actually together in that pic. Here is another sample I did. It's a different size, but it's fully assembled.

What if you had a friend take pictures of you and FH acting out the table names (ie. silly, flirty, noisy, etc) then had those printed on cardstock with the table name above or below the photo? It would make it more personal

We laser-cut our table names from wood and mounted them on a little stand we DIY'ed. It consisted of a tiny (50cent) flowerpot from Michaels, filled with spray foam and flipped upside down, and spray-painted black. 1 can of foam was more than enough to fill 20 flowerpots. We then stuck a thin stiff wire from the hardware store down into the foam, drilled a tiny hole into the bottom of the word, and stuck the wire into the hole.

The laser cutting isn't particularly cheap and it definitely isn't easy, but you could make the same stand, and print out the name on two sheets of cardstock. Glue them together back to back with the wire in between. You can't see our flowerpots because we attached a card to them, but you can probably get the idea! Hope it helps!

Thanks for the ideas Smiley smile

I love yours Mrs Moore - saw those on another thread - I think laser cutting is beyond us, but no reason we couldn't do it from card I think.

I just went to the dollar store and bought a dozen of the little silver picture frames, and then put that infront of the centerpiece in the middle of the table... printed the table info using the computer... picked font/color.... and put paper in the frame.
