When we were considering it we were going to book a photographer and then have a small dinner gathering afterwards with family and close friends. Some courthouses only allow a certain number of witnesses inside, so depending on the number yours allows I would consider having the photographer as a witness so they can capture the wedding.

Check with the courthouse to see what's allowed, mine has a cap on people attending but won't count the photographer if you only have one.
A dinner or party after is where I think the fun is, there's a trend of people doing those vs traditional wedding

Definitely have a photographer. Dress up. Get your hair done. Wear a veil if that's your thing. Have flowers (a small bouquet and boutonniere). My photographer shoots a lot of courthouse weddings and they're super sweet. You can definitely find inspiration out there on pinterest and Google, just like any other wedding style.
