I just saw a FB post for a friend's wedding. The post states that their invitations will be post cards that will go out next week but since people keep asking, they're just posting their wedding website to FB for people to go to RSVP now. On the website, they say it's a "backyard wedding" on a 10 acre property owned by family. There is "primitive camping" on sight. No mention of restrooms anywhere and I have a lack of hope if its "primitive camping." Dress code is semi-formal because "even though this is a backyard affair, it'll still be classy." I'm going to be upset about peeing in the woods with a dress on. I have to assume since she posted about the wedding website on FB and tagged her FH that all 600+ of their friends are invited or they'll have some awkward conversations. I doubt a house restroom can handle even 100 people. The wedding is at 5, dinner at 6 and there is no end time. How do I politely inquire about restroom facilities?

If it's posted in Facebook it's reasonable to just ask.

Hopefully they have thought of this. I'm sure they also don't want 600 people peeing and pooping all of their land.

They ARE having an open bar. They've described it as "a drunk rager" which is why I'm surprised kids are allowed, even if there is a babysitter. Which I think I forgot to mention - they specifically say there will be a babysitter for kids so parents "can party." BUT NO MENTION OF TOILETS.

I prefer peeing in the woods over a porta potty. They are so nasty, i would hold it all night before going into one.

Perhaps this is me turning 30 in a month, but the idea of describing my wedding as "a drunk rager?"

Sounds like a wedding that is not personal at all. Depending on your relationship with her, I might just skip it. :X

We're doing "upscale" porta pottys that flush and have running water for hand washing. We will have one for men and one for women. I get that they're not glamorous no matter what. But we are working with what we have.

( Didn't mean to hijack the thread and make it about me)

Oh my gosh one of my friends is going to a wedding like this this summer! She was telling me that the guests are supposed to stay in a cabin with other guests in bunk beds and have a shared bathroom. She wants to Airbnb a house nearby with other guests but the bride and groom got all pissed! Sounds awful!

I am having my wedding on a large plot of land that my family owns and it sounds like a similar venue to the wedding you are attending, but I am renting portable restroom facilities. I would assume that most people would do this, but it sounds like they are being rather flighty about the whole thing from your description of the invitation situation. I would just use the restroom before I got there and if there is nothing there, I would leave early if I had to go. I dont think there is a way to ask about it without either sounding rude or ridiculous and I am assuming you would still have to go to the wedding regardless.

I think that as you say your FH is friends with the groom your FH should just ask. It sounds like the couple is super casual so I don't imagine it should be a big deal.

Okay....I'm a super outdoorsy gal and I'm all about making your wedding personal. Buuut..."primitive camping" plus "drunk rager" just gives off a certain vibe. Do you even want to go? Because given your relationship I think you could just skip this if it's not your style. Good luck. And keep up posted. Sounds...interesting. =)

Ewww. And if there are 600 (!) guests, will they have at least 6 porta potties? And if it's a "drunk rager", people will likely be barfing in the porta potties, too. I hope they have good aim--from both ends!!

How do you inquire? Easy answer to that, you ask.
