I will not pee in the woods

kphmitten, on April 2, 2016 at 9:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 50

I just saw a FB post for a friend's wedding. The post states that their invitations will be post cards that will go out next week but since people keep asking, they're just posting their wedding website to FB for people to go to RSVP now. On the website, they say it's a "backyard wedding" on a 10 acre property owned by family. There is "primitive camping" on sight. No mention of restrooms anywhere and I have a lack of hope if its "primitive camping." Dress code is semi-formal because "even though this is a backyard affair, it'll still be classy." I'm going to be upset about peeing in the woods with a dress on. I have to assume since she posted about the wedding website on FB and tagged her FH that all 600+ of their friends are invited or they'll have some awkward conversations. I doubt a house restroom can handle even 100 people. The wedding is at 5, dinner at 6 and there is no end time. How do I politely inquire about restroom facilities?

I don't want to believe that anyone would expect their guests to pee in the woods, but wowza...

I would assume that they would rent portable toilets but maybe doesn't hurt to inquire?

LMAO! I would think that they will probably have something, although it may be port-o-potty...

I HAVE to imagine that they're at least renting porta-potties (or maybe even the nice porta potties with stairs guiding you to your bathroom destination). Right?

On the bright side, peeing in the woods is actually easier in a dress. Smiley winking

How close are you with this friend? Is it possible they set up a group to see the post, not all of their friends? I do that on FB all the time and I'm not sure it's obvious to those seeing the post that I have done so. In that case, perhaps the guest list is smaller than you think and they have a house with bathroom on site. Also I've been to many events (not weddings) that rent port-a-potties that actually aren't bad if they are fresh at the start of the event.

You might want to call and just keep things light-hearted and ask about her plans. Brides tend to love to share their plans and ideas. Ask plenty of other questions and you can probably slip in a question about bathrooms.

What the actual hell lol! No way. Nope. How do you ask someone to dress "semi-formal" at a primitive camp wedding?!

I can imagine that this doesn't sound like they will rent the fancy portable bathrooms.... I would say Porta potties are your best bet

I'm really not that close. Her FH is a guy I went to middle - high school with and we had the same friends but always hung out in groups. Lost touch after school, I meet FH and discover they're great friends. So he's closer to them than I am.

I'm hoping it's to a group but looking at the post, it doesn't have the person's name > group I normally see when someone posts to a group. They're awesome people and I was super excited for their wedding and party (I'd already gotten the time off) but...oh this scares me.

I went to a backyard wedding and they locked the house so guests couldn't get in. I mean I get not wanting 100 going in and out of your house but they didn't even provide porta potty's. Luckily I was a BM so I got to use the bathroom in the house.

I'm not sure. To be honest I left that wedding right after dinner. It was way too hot and humid to be outside and I started to get sick.

Primitive camping?! What the hell? I would decline this disaster so hard. Are you actually going to go? Please report back if you do. I can't imagine that there wouldn't at least be porta potties!?

FutureMrsC - that is disgusting! What did guests do?! I would leave.

Yeah I'm not sure I could go into that situation blind and to not have even a porta potty is straight up rude. I can't even. Bathroom facilities is a basic!

Not even Porta potties? That's worse then Porta potties in June. I'm trying to explain this all to FH and he just says, "it's not our style but it's not our wedding." He said I don't have to attend but I think FH would be disappointed.
